Mercure Hotel Koblenz

We originally made a reservation for one night then extended due to a change of plans. We loved the location and the views from our room (no issue with the building site and cranes). We loved the water station in reception and the shop. All amenities were great. What we didn’t like and we are still talking about now sitting at the airport is the extra pillow request response from reception. We had two big pillows but wanted an extra one so we asked the receptionist who was on duty on Friday 29/5 and were told very casually without a hospitality focused response that sorry the hotel does not have enough pillows. Wow - Mercure hotel group does not have enough pillows to supply guests with an extra pillow request. The other issue is we extended an extra day and our room was not cleaned despite the fact we extended before midday when we were already out of the window for a clean request. Reception should have asked us if we wanted a clean and then followed up…the missing are the attention to detail with staff being totally on it….

The hotel was a complete disappointment. The Rheinterrasse (one of the main reasons for our choice) has apparently been closed for years, the bar on the top floor with a great view has been closed for years, the air conditioning does not work, and to open the window, you first have to fill out a form at the reception so that a staff member can come to open it. On top of all that, the facade gives a rather run-down impression. All in all, it is not a hotel that can be recommended with a clear conscience.

The location of the hotel is good and the center is easily reachable on foot. Duration is about 15 minutes. The entrance looks quite inviting. Here you can buy drinks and snacks. Water is available for free in refillable bottles. Upon entering the room (504), an unpleasant smell greeted me. First, I opened the windows. The bed was clean and comfortable. However, the cleanliness in the room left much to be desired. Curtain torn out of the track at the corners. Dirty coffee bar. (See more in the photos). The breakfast was good. Parking garage is okay, but with only two charging stations. The second. Station was defective. I would not stay here again.
