We just stayed at the Excelsior Hotel Ludwigshafen.
I was blinded by the pictures on the web, on the page.
Too bad about the name...!
Hotel close to the train station, before that a construction site and not far away even more construction sites.
Front desk staff, was very nice and friendly. Tried everything for a nice stay.
The house was built around the 70s and needs a lot of work. Elevator could be done something.
The hallways with stained walls and floors, nothing has happened for a long time.
Room doors are actually a joke, the wind just whistles through and closure just a knob. Like in the United States, terrible.
The rooms have been quite clean, the furniture has had the best days. Corners and edges are sharpened.
Bed rolls around the room when used, stands on casters but no brakes.
The minibar is awesome, simply a freestanding fridge without filling. What are you doing?
To the heart, BAD. Ow, what happened here? Those who like retro are right here, ancient amateurs with 2 twist grips.
No regulation hot cold possible. Sometimes too cold and then too hot again. Toilet flush box, rinse 3 times and there is still something visible.
Breakfast for 11,-€, a cheek.
Staff prefer to play around with mobile phones rather than take care of guests.
Offer is cheaper and fresher to get in the discount store.
The baking buns were especially delicious....
Dry and firm, you could almost call it a stone.
Have you ever baked anything?
The promised 360° all-round view is not possible at all, since it has certainly been closed for some time.
The hotel is not recommended, even if the price is so tempting. So watch out.

The hotel is absolute garbage! The rooms are dirty and most of them don't have air conditioning. There also wasn't a light in the bedroom, only a couple small useless lamps. The bathroom was dark, and the bath tube is a safety concern, as it is curved so I almost fell and destroyed my back. The breakfast was even worse, as all the food seemed to be already rotten!!! Don't stay here

Due to a late booking this traveller ended up in the Excelsior. Rates are Budget friendly and it’s located close to the railway station and hence to Abbvie, a major Pharma company located in Ludwigshafen.
On the plus side, a room high up affords a great view and windows/doors can be opened, so letting in air is easy. The room was good sized and featured a double bed plus a made up camper bed, so if one wanted to, one could sleep three.
Room and bath were clean and that’s appreciated, beds the same and, no bites as other guests reported. Maybe two large dumpsters containing mattresses have something to do with it.
The receptionists I spoke to were rather friendly and I appreciated that very much.
In the negative side, the whole place looks like it was built 50 years ago and not substantially renovated since. The lift is from 1972, so that may be about right. Furniture looks banged up, carpet out in the hallway looked as if somebody did not enjoy their pizza and breakfast was essentially cleaned out at 0830. Depressingly, a signed posted in the hallway alerted you to a 3000€ penalty for vandalizing your room.
In total, it’s a somewhat depressing experience.
