Berghotel Kockelsberg

It is a scandalous experience that I had with Hotel de Kockelsberg; I had indicated well in advance (10 days) of the booking date (July 17th to 19th) that I unfortunately could not appear on the mentioned weekend because my 91-year-old father had to go to the hospital urgently for a serious situation! The hotel indicated that I could change the date subject to availability. As far as that went, this seemed like a reasonable proposal from the hotel. My surprise and indignation were enormous that on July 17th the hotel reported me as a "no show" for the booked weekend, since I had clearly indicated that I absolutely could not make it due to urgent medical reasons! They had, after all, indicated that I could choose another date. Stubbornly, and even with involvement from Booking.com, they do not want to refund my transferred amount because I did not appear on the day of the reservation? The result now is that I cannot make use of a booking on another date and have therefore lost my money. The host of the hotel is very unfriendly and unreasonable in communication; apparently, the management of the whole place is going quite poorly! /-------------------- My experience with the Hotel de Kockelsberg was scandalous. Tucked away on the edge of the Kockelsberg mountain, the eponymous hotel boasts interesting architecture that seems a little enchanted, with a fantastic view of the entire city centre of Trier, a view that can be enjoyed from the breakfast room and terrace as well as from the downhill rooms. The aged hotel offers functional, clean rooms and a good breakfast buffet. And all this at a perfectly reasonable price. If you want to reach Trier, about 3 km away, by public transport, you must of course take a short walk to the nearest bus stop on the B51.

Fantastic view, lovely lovely people running the hotel, affordable, great breakfast on the terrace, a perfect room. Very special place - will definitely be back.
