NH Dessau

The hotel has been remodeled. It still lacks air conditioning, and that is a drawback in the summer. They have also changed the reception staff, for the worse. The best part remains the comfort of the beds, the bathroom, and the location.

The advertisement of the establishment invited to the Pentecost brunch. We found a somewhat dried out, somewhat melted assortment of leftovers from cheap discount goods (at least: the plastic packaging was no longer on the cheap sausage slices) in, to put it mildly, an unclean environment. We could draw coffee from a functional, albeit splattering, coffee machine. In the sweltering heat outside, a mobile air conditioning unit was running at full speed inside, cooling at best the street: the window directly behind the machine was wide open. The dining area was at best unclean – to put it in everyday language: dirty. Culinary failure across the board.

Dessau was interesting. HOTEL: + STAFF + in the hotel, but not at breakfast BREAKFAST: Breakfast was totally overpriced at 19.90€, esp when you consider that the egg dishes, cheese and breads were limited. There were no croissants and salmon. In addition, bread often ran out, as well as the ham and not one staff member noticed. I could see that guests often had to ask staff to replenish breakfast items. Scrambled eggs were dry. There was no bacon. The coffee and tea area is squeezed into a corner, making it rather a tight situation getting in and out of the corner. There was not even a daily newspaper. Staff member was a bit rude when asked about putting out the cheese; she simply said 'WARTE bis ich das hier hinlege!, (wait til I lay it down), but she simply threw the pieces down. The display of the cheeses were rather haphazard. (there is a bakery and cafe directly across the street from the hotel, where I would go next time).
