Hotel Villa Sorgenfrei

We spent a wonderful weekend here! The restaurant is worth a special recommendation. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. We will be back.

We stayed at the Hotel Villa Sorgenfrei for the weekend and we found it really nice. The hotel itself is beautiful in the old style and the ambience was really great. The staff at reception and service were very friendly and accommodating. We felt really comfortable around. Breakfast was fantastic and there was a nice offer. All in all a successful stay with the family :)

For a stopover on the way back from Krakow, I booked an overnight stay at Villa Sorgenfrei 10 days in advance. The friendly reception with a welcome drink also matched the motto "carefree." The room was nice, but it did not match the published photos at all. The bigger disappointment followed the next day. To double-check the price and the booked services, I read my reservation confirmation. It says: "Room rate includes gourmet breakfast, served à la carte." I then reported this at the reception. The hotel staff member explained to me that since she could not find any indication in the system of whether breakfast was included or not, I could go ahead and have breakfast. As we were almost finished with breakfast, the mentioned staff member appeared and explained that there was likely an error in the reservation confirmation. The text would be sent out by default. I should forward my reservation confirmation to her. Said and done. The receptionist comes back and informs us that we need to pay the breakfast fee (2 times 29 euros). I do not want to ruin our day and suggest that we share the breakfast. We pay 29 euros and the hotel covers 29 euros. Again, she disappears to consult with her manager and returns with a denial. Fine, we agree, then they should charge à la carte. And what does the hotel do? Lists everything they had placed in front of us without request. Not only the food and drinks that we ordered outside of the regular menu. Cost: 48 euros. Instead of feeling carefree, we had a miserable feeling of being taken advantage of. And the manager who was actually responsible, who should have explained herself, had conveniently hidden in her office. So our conclusion: Villa Sorgenfrei is not recommended.
