Lovely stay with attentive, friendly, and very welcomming service. Rooms clean and comfortable. We look forward to coming back.

I'm a fan of Steigenberger hotels, so I was looking forward to my stay at Hotel de Saxe. I didn't think it was up to the Steigenberger standard. First impression was poor; lobby decor is stuck in the 1990s and looks like a nursing home in Phoenix. Secondly, rooms use the outdated "swipe card" method, which means your card is constantly being de-magnetized and you have to go back down to the front desk to get it re-magnetized. Our room itself was fine, clean and quiet and much better furnished than the lobby. Location can't be beat, you're right next to the Frauenkirke. One negative is that this is a *very* touristy zone and there are no local shops except for a kiosk that is closed Sunday and Monday. Need a Red Bull or a bag of crisps? That will be a 10-minute walk. Also not particularly convenient to mass transit. Closest tram stop is about a 10 minute walk away. Nice for a short Dresden stay, perhaps with a tourist group, where you plan to focus on the local attractions.

It was very good as always; I have been coming to you for many years when I travel to Dresden. Only this time I was a bit shocked by an innovation in the shower area. I cannot remember having experienced this before. There is a lack of information about the operation... if you turn the left side just a little bit back, you suddenly find yourself in an unwanted shower that ruins your hairstyle. I had of course made plans and was well-styled with hairspray... when suddenly the shower came from above, everything was ruined... terrible... I had to go to the hairdresser to look somewhat decent again. This shower is completely unnecessary!!!!! Who came up with this idea?? If I want to wash my hair, the normal shower is completely sufficient. This will of course not happen to me again now that I know, but it will happen to others as I have already experienced. So please, either dismantle or provide a description (warning). Best regards, R. Neumann
