Relaxhotel Sachsenbaude

We iced as a family on the first weekend of January and had booked a suite. The reception was friendly and the check in was quick. Parking spaces were available. The suite was spacious and is in a renovated state. The view of the winter forest was beautiful. The traditional arches were also in every window. It was heated and the room facilities were fine except for the old cupboards without handles. The mattresses were still new and freshly covered. The suite was clean. The breakfast was very good and the service staff friendly. It was replenished again and again. However, there are serious shortcomings in the new hotel concept. The Forest hotel restaurant is also open to other guests and that's why we and other hotel guests were left behind. In our case we were advised at check in to report immediately to the restaurant if we want to eat in the restaurant. There we learned from the restaurant manager and an employee that on the day of arrival all the capacities of the restaurant Forest had already been exhausted, as a larger birthday party had reserved. We were given some alternatives on request and booked immediately for the next evening. This is what happened to other hotel guests. Unfortunately, all restaurants in Oberwiesenthal were fully booked that day and we then drove in a snowstorm with the children to Bozi Dar in the Czech Republic for dinner. The next evening we stood with two hungry children punctually at the restaurant at 6 p.m. and were met by a completely overwhelmed and stressed employee with the words: “We have a problem.” Can you come back later? So at 7.30pm?”received. In this case, we were really amazed at the poor service, as we have known the Sachsenbaude for many years and had travelled mainly because of the good cuisine. The amuse-geule was placed without words and consisted of three slices of baguette and two mini bowls with a cream cheese-like content. When ordering, the service worker was still having difficulty operating the tablet, as he had only recently started working in the restaurant. She was solely responsible for the whole restaurant. She then brought the food individually to the next table. The bartender was more attentive than you and at least helped her serve to our table. There was no children's menu and neither was a children's corner/chairs. The shrimp soup was completely salted and had a single shrimp in it. We approached the service staff about it and we were brought a cream-stretched soup that was still inedible. Then we cancelled this soup. In the meantime, other families with young children were waiting for a place they had already reserved. The price-performance ratio for the upscale gastronomy was not justified. There is an urgent need for a new restaurant concept in which enough tables are also available for hotel guests. An indication on the hotel website that early reservation is recommended for hotel guests would have been desirable. The new room doors have ended 2cm above the floor, resulting in drafts. The permanent exhaust air from the bathroom led to whistling noises via the leaking doors. Especially at night it was very disturbing. The “spa area” is very manageable and consists of a 95 degree sauna and a small pool with four loungers. The relaxation area is beautifully designed and there is tea from a samovar. The hotel is not designed for families with children. We went home very disappointed and hope that this will not happen to any hotel guests again.

The Hotel Sachsenbaude still won after the renovation. Nicely designed rooms and beautifully decorated Ore Mountains when visiting the site at the end of November 👌. Staff at reception and restaurant very friendly. Room service very fast and prudent. The food in the restaurant Forest really good and worth the upscale price. Nevertheless, a note to the owners: Please compare prices in the menu with those in the electronic checkout. The differences should be avoided We will come back in 2026.

We stayed at the Naturhotel Sachsenbaude shortly after reopening. After a very friendly welcome we moved into our double room on the third floor and immediately felt really comfortable. The location of the hotel is ideal as a starting point for hiking in the Fichtelberg area, the view from our room was excellent. For dinner we stopped at the hotel's restaurant and ate a delicious schnitzel. We were particularly pleased with the non-alcoholic cocktails on the menu. After a restful night, there was a fantastic breakfast buffet. Overall, we were positively surprised by the Sachsenbaude and the team and would love to come back.
