Best Western Plus Hotel Baltic Hills Usedom

We were really looking forward to a few relaxing days on Usedom, but were unfortunately disappointed overall by the Dorint Resort Baltic Hills. To start with the positives: The staff on-site was truly exceptionally friendly, attentive, and helpful. The pool area is also attractively designed. Unfortunately, that cannot make up for the many small and large shortcomings of the stay. Upon arrival, our room already smelled extremely musty, which only became tolerable after the nice efforts of the staff with room fragrance and days of airing it out. Overall, the building seemed quite worn down to us in many places. We were missing basics in the room like a refrigerator or a telephone – the hotel justifies this upon inquiry with sustainability, but in this hotel category, we simply expect a certain basic standard. The confusingly low-mounted toilet also limited comfort. Although we specifically looked for a smoke-free environment, smoke from the neighboring balconies constantly drifted into our room, as smoking is apparently permitted there. The hotel also fell short of our expectations in terms of cuisine. The breakfast offered little variety, and we found it very disappointing for a hotel of this class that there was, for example, no real orange juice, only instant fruit drinks. Our departure provided the negative final note. The fact that parking fees apply is generally not a problem for us – it is absolutely not about the 50 euros. It is about the lack of transparency. Neither during the booking process (where the shopping cart stated that all fees were included) nor at check-in, when we were only asked for our license plate number, was the price of 10 euros per night actively communicated. You really have to search for this information in the fine print or the FAQs. Unfortunately, the management only responded to our direct complaint afterward with justifying boilerplate text. As experienced travelers, we can compare well: We have experienced significantly better service, fresher quality at breakfast, and above all more hospitality and transparency in Germany at hotels with the same star rating. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio was not right for us here.

The Baltic Hills was our destination hotel on Usedom for a long weekend. The drive to the hotel went well. The parking lot (attention extra charge per day for cars 10 euros) was large and right in front of the hotel. Arriving in the evening, the hotel is the highlight of the small place. The reception desk was friendly. After moving into the room we were able to book the reservation for dinner. We've decided on the buffet. The price was really good, the food selection extremely good and the variety is second to none. There’s an “excellent” here, as far as the breakfast buffet is concerned. The restaurant itself is more of a 3+. But the staff made up for it. The rooms themselves are no longer new but clean. Small wearing parts, especially in the bathroom, are recognizable. The hotel also has a sauna area (2). Here the relaxation room is large, but there was a lack of ceilings. Also, the drains were slightly blocked when showering, which does not loosen the water drain. The hiking trail to Ahlbeck was very great and with 4km easily accessible on foot through the forest. As a small note, it should be noted that the price of the hotel does not include tourist tax for the seaside resorts. Here we had to pay on the spot (okay - you can blame that on yourself). Overall, I rated the hotel “good”. The food in the hotel with “excellent”. Overall, the price-performance ratio is good to very good!

Much too expensive and not what I would expect from 4 stars. The food was mediocre at best and the drinks quite bad. The spa area was nice but the pool seemed to be only for old people swimming and not for children playing.
