BABY GRAND

This isn’t so much of a review as a thank you to Dionysia who was such a help. My family and I were due to stay for two nights but the hotel was under construction when we arrived which left us in a precarious position. Thankfully Dionysia predicted that we may arrive having not heard back from our travel company and made arrangements for us to stay elsewhere. We were very grateful for her proactive approach and kindness to weary travellers, not to mention finding us fantastic rooms at The Melia and paying for the taxi. No doubt when the hotel re-opens it will be wonderful, especially with such a capable person at the helm. Thank you again, we were truly grateful.

This was a wonderful hotel where I spent one night before flying back to the U.S. I was upgraded (for an extra 40 Euros) to their best suite and it was well worth it. spacious and well appointed with Art Deco inspired furnishings. Breakfast was a highlight: massive number of choices and all of it good. Wish I'd had more time to enjoy it, but will choose this place if and when I return to Athens. P.S. one quibble: there was a lack of outlets to plug in chargers. I had to unplug a lamp to plug in my chargers.

We stayed for 5 nights, and were upgraded to a suite which was super and gave us a lot of space. The decor is quirky, I think it suits Athens because it generally feels like a fun and quirky city. The bed was comfortable and everything was very clean. The buffet breakfast was really good, lots of options and lovely, friendly staff. We ate in the restaurant and the food was really good, and they have a good selection of cocktails and wine. As other reviews mention, it does feel a little like it is located in a rougher area of Athens, but I never felt unsafe; and to be honest quite a lot of Athens feels neglected. It was a 20 minute walk from the hotel to the Acropolis, and well really to anywhere in the city - excellent location from that point of view. I would definitely return to this hotel, I highly recommend it!
