Aphea Village

We had a lovely relaxing week at Aphea village. The apartment was clean but basic. It had everything we needed. Yes the furniture is a little rickety but who lets a hard to close draw or an old wardrobe ruin a holiday? Beds are super comfy, in fact I slept better here than I do at home. The restaurant and pool area are wonderful. Such a beautiful space with fantastic views and lovely friendly owners. The food is delicious and the cocktails & juice are all made fresh to order with fresh fruit. The pretty beach is around a 7 min walk. There are 5 or 6 tavernas on the beach. And the small village with a few shops & supermarket is about the same distance the other way. I would recommend a car as there is not alot to do in the area but I did see lots of busses so that would be an option too. Nikolas the hotel manager was very helpful and arranged an automatic car hire very last minute and we really appreciated the very late check out as we have an evening flight home tonight. We never stayed there was human waste on floor in bathroom and no solution - toulet looked to be cracked for a very long time. Bedding had urine stains and blood stains ( see pics)

We didn't sleep the whole stay because the beds are so uncomfortable. The bathroom leaks everywhere; it is extremely dilapidated. Do not plan on any cooking, not even pasta, because the burners are decades old, and besides, there are no dishes. A minimum amount of equipment would be welcome. No curtains/shutters in the kitchen which overlooks the walkway, so no privacy and the sun right in our faces in the morning. Bed bugs found in the sheets upon our arrival. We reported all of these issues on the very first day and nothing was done. A leaf blower woke us up one morning at 9 a.m. in front of our door; it was impossible to sleep. Housekeeping is supposedly done every day; we were not notified, and the housekeeping service walked in without knocking on the first day, to our great surprise. When they leave, only the trash cans are empty; not even a quick wipe of the tables, and the floor is just as dirty as before. The pool hours are very disappointing since it closes at 6 p.m. in the middle of summer, so it is impossible to enjoy it. Not at all suitable for people with reduced mobility, or with heavy luggage; there are a huge number of stairs to climb. If you have bad knees, do not even consider this accommodation. Overall dirty, and very old-fashioned.
