Gouves Bay

I spent 15 days at these hotels with my family; the first disappointment is that, unlike some photos seen online, there is no adjacent beach; to have a sunbed and an umbrella by the sea, you have to move 500m away, and there is a small, crowded, paid beach. In front of the hotel, there are only large rocks, but with rough seas, it is impossible to swim. Therefore, it is highly recommended to have a car to be able to move to the nearby beaches. Food was good and abundant but veeeery repetitive... In 15 days, very little really changed. Daytime entertainment only in the pool area, so we didn't attend it; in the evening, apart from bingo (for a fee), it was poor. For the rest, the staff is kind and helpful, the room is cute, too bad about the smell of sewage coming up from the bathroom. I will not return to this hotel in Crete.

Our stay at the Gouves Bay by Omilos Hotels was very positive overall. We traveled as a family (two adults and two children) and spent a week in a family room. The location of the hotel is excellent: close to the sea and well connected to local shops and bars. Although the exterior appearance of the hotel seems to be in need of some renovation, it is convincing due to its inner values – especially because of the extremely friendly staff and the very good buffet. The pool area offers inclusive cocktails as well as snacks for children and regular small entertainment programs such as live music or karaoke. The price-performance ratio is remarkably good. Thanks to all-inclusive, additional food costs are eliminated, so you can easily use your budget for activities such as rental cars, excursions, or shopping. For us, it was a unique and very pleasant experience. Those who expect higher luxury should rather choose a 4- or 5-star hotel or regions like Chania. For everyone else, this hotel is clearly recommended.

We stayed from July 7 to July 11, 2026, at a hotel near the airport, but it is inconvenient to reach if you do not have a car or a taxi. The structure is not very modern, the bathroom is terrible both in terms of structure—you cannot open the door because the toilet is right in front of it—and cleanliness. The buffet is abundant but primarily Greek food, which is not ideal for us Italians. There is no included beach, but you have to move, and the worst thing is the large number of mosquitoes... both in the rooms and in the structure. They provide you with a device, but you have to be very careful when opening the windows... it is not a 4-star experience.
