Irene Villa

The apartments are about 15 min walking distance to the center. The plot around the apartments is nice but it is deserted all around, right next to is an undeveloped plot. The beach that is right across the road is not a beach you lie and sunbathe on, rocky and disorderly. The apartments are in ok condition, cleaning every three days which I felt was a bit too infrequent. The beds were comfortable. The pool was not perceived as well maintained, there were some leaves, parts from plants blown into the pool and no one seemed to hold on to it, some sun loungers were dirty. It therefore did not invite to sunbathe and swim there. We were there at the end of October/beginning of November and there were not many guests there, maybe they had started to reduce their ambitions for the season. We had rental car and there was parking next to the house. There are nice beaches around to go to. A favorite was Dragon beach. The city of Ierapetra is nothing special to me. No place I would return to but quite ok place to stay if you make excursions during the day to nicer places around.

I was glad to see from Hilary's review that Irene is apparently still there. We stayed at Villas Irene in the late 1990s. The pool was still being built. Didn't matter; the beach across the street was fine! As another reviewer wrote, the location is quite convenient, about a 15 minute walk to the pleasant town of Ierapetra. But the best feature of Villas Irene is Irene herself. A kinder, warmer, more helpful hostess could not be imagined. We stayed in 3 or 4 of the little apartments with our kids and extended family. A great vacation, one we'd be happy to repeat.

I was staying here for 2 weeks with a friend because other friends have their own place about 3.5kilomiters away. Firstly, I had no problems or issues. The local town is about 1k walk away. There is air conditioning in the bedroom. It is kept very clean. It has its own swimming pool. There are great views from the balcony. Irene is incredibly friendly and welcoming. I would love to go back and would recommend this place to anyone.
