The hotel is in a very central location in the "old town", about ten minutes walk from where the bus from the archaeological museum / bus stop where I got off from the airport. It's a few minutes walk to the touristy centre, a decent size local supermarket and the waterfront. It's about 12 minutes if you walk the most direct route to the KTEL (sometimes looks a bit like KTEA in Greek Alphabet due to lambda) central bus park but allow a few more minutes in case you take a wrong turn. My room was small but fine for my four day stay. The rooms are well equipped and even include an ironing board. It was nice to see a fridge but it was a bit noisy so I turned it off while I was staying there. In May I didn't need to use the air conditioning as it was mild and the city cooled down at night. The Wi-Fi was fine. The bathroom (with sliding smoked glass door) could do with a shelf for putting toiletries on. The shower was good. There's a small terrace at the top of the stairs. This view isn't great but it looked like a pleasant place to chat at the end of a hard day of tourism. There's also a vending machine up there with cold drinks including some reasonably priced beers. One of the best breakfast buffets I've seen in a small hotel. Fresh orange juice, real honeycomb, local pastries and breads and an entertaining American-style pancake machine. Machine made cappuccino was okay, greek coffee was available on request. Generally quiet but there were two occasions when local idiots were playing loud music in their cars at 11pm and briefly driving past the hotel. Same issue where I live so I'm not sure I can complain too much about this. I was on the first floor facing the road. Friendly, helpful staff who speak perfect English. The hotel should add some signs in the bathrooms for those unfamiliar with the quaint narrow-bore sewage pipes found in Greece and its islands.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights after arriving by ferry from Santorini, and was a short 10 minute taxi ride from the port. As we did not have much time to stay longer than 2 nights, our main goal was to visit the Knossos palace and the Archeological Museum. Anyway, the hotel was in a prime location within easy walk to tavernas, grocery and souvenir stores. Our room was splendid! It had a ceiling light that resembled the sky and an exclusive balcony with artificial grass. Bed and pillows were big and comfy, water pressure was strong with good temp control, fast wifi, coffee maker (capsule type), minibar, wide-screen TV and in-room safe. Buffet breakfast had an adequate spread, with freshly squeezed orange juice every morning. I would certainly recommend this place without hesitation.

Loved my recent stay at Kastro Hotel. The central location made it well-suited for strolls around an interesting neighbourhood. The hotel's warm, friendly staff made me feel at home. Breakfast was a delight with a wide variety of food and drink selections. I really enjoyed some of the Cretan classics. Recently renovated, the rooms feature modern amenities with lovely linens. Don't forget to visit roof top deck on the 5th floor!
