Ormos Atalia Aparthotel

A very cozy, beautifully renovated hotel with an incredible sea view. We were vacationing as a family of four, so the two-room suite was very convenient for us. One of the rooms had a small kitchen, which added extra comfort to our stay. Breakfast and dinner were included — all the dishes were delicious, and there was always a good selection. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere in the hotel was very calm and pleasant. We would gladly come back here again and recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to enjoy beautiful views and a comfortable stay. The hotel is located on a hillside, so you need to walk down some stairs to reach the beach, which takes only about 5 minutes. The walk back uphill is a bit more challenging, but it wasn't a problem for us at all. In return, you get breathtaking panoramic sea views that make the short climb absolutely worthwhile.

Unfortunately, the hotel did not meet our expectations. We booked an apartment for two people, expecting a cozy living area with a sofa or armchair, as well as a pleasant terrace with a lounge chair for relaxing. Instead, the accommodation mainly consisted of an entrance area with a kitchenette without a stove and two bedrooms that were more suited for four people. The staff was always friendly and attentive; however, cleanliness in some areas left much to be desired. Overall, the value for money unfortunately did not meet our expectations.

Bali (Crete) is a beautiful vacation spot with various beaches – whether sand, pebble, or rocky beach, there is something for everyone here. Additionally, there are many supermarkets, taverns, and car rentals. However, those who want to go to Chania or Rethymno must walk about 2.5 km to the nearest bus stop. In general, the area is very hilly, and the paths can be quite slippery in places. The breakfast was acceptable, but very monotonous, as there was nearly the same thing every day. On the other hand, it is a typical Greek breakfast. The breakfast time from 8:00 to 10:00 AM was pleasant. Dinner is rather limited for vegetarians and therefore only conditionally recommended. However, those who eat meat or fish will find plenty of options and will be satisfied. Culinarily, one should not expect fine dining, though. The rooms offer a great view of the sea and the village of Bali. Especially in the mornings and evenings, one can enjoy the view from the balcony or terrace. The small refrigerator is good for drinks, but it is a bit too small for other food items. The television offers various channels. A negative aspect was that the water temperature in the shower was very inconsistent. Additionally, the entire bathroom was often wet after showering. On the positive side, the beds are made daily and the towels are changed every three days. However, one must bring their own towels for the pool or beach. Overall, it is a nice accommodation with a great view and the occasional free-roaming cat. Another minor point of criticism is that communication at the reception was sometimes difficult, as only limited English was spoken there.
