We stayed at this wonderful apartment location for our 10 year anniversary. We wanted to find somewhere that was convenient and close to Chania but a little further away from the busyness of town. Not only what’s the location perfect for us which I’ll share more shortly, we could not be more pleased with the apartments and the family that run it. Firstly, every member of the family business we met, from Giota, Dimitri, Michael and Alex, could not be more professional, friendly, inviting and hospitable. From the moment my husband booked the location to the minute we left we were continuously impressed. A massive part of us enjoying our stay was how we were continually looked after and conversed with. This was built on an evidence further by mingling with other guests. Many who we found were repeat customers returning for over 20 years! This is a real testament to this family business maintaining not just quality, comfortable and well priced accommodation but to the Care and attention they put into the relationships with their guests. The family took time every day to share with us their knowledge on local beaches and restaurants to visit, gave us insight to which buses to catch (which only took 15 minutes to get to Chania town) and have many more conversations about where we’ve been where we planned to go. Secondly, while, we ate out a fair bit, we also tried the cuisine from the restaurant at the apartments. This begun when we arrived - as with most travelling - turning up very hungry! We only went for a couple of starters as we were going out for an evening meal but it was honestly the best Saginaki we have ever had and the other food we tasted ( Salmon Bruchetta) was excellent - and this was not just because we were hungry, further proven on another occasion we savoured these treats. A couple of other times we ate breakfast enjoying traditional Crete, omelette, bacon, eggs and granola yoghurt. All food with freshly prepared, quickly cook cooked and tasted great! Our only wish was the restaurant was open past six as we would’ve definitely eaten there for dinner! Thirdly, the location of the apartments is only a 15 minute bus from the main town Chania. The Bus regular, cheap (2 euros pp each way) and quick. Alternatively, if you fancied a walk, it would take about 30 minutes. There were plenty of supermarkets, restaurants and amenities nearby and the local beaches were short 15 minute walk. If you have a car which we did parking can be a little tricky, but there are spots near the apartments you can use for free. As with lots of holidays it’s always hard to leave, however my husband and I really felt something different here, a strong connection. So much so we will be coming back again with the rest of our family and even looking to see if we could spend some more time in Crete as a lifestyle. If you are looking for a clean, well placed, extremely well run apartment which offers you the independence you get with this type of accommodation, yet the feel of family, this is absolutely a location we would recommend. My partner and I stayed at Theos Village Hotel & Apartments in June 2026, and it was a real gem of a find. The location is ideal. It's only around a 15 minute bus ride from Chania Old Town, and is also well placed for heading towards the beach resort of Platanias. Golden Beach is just a 5 to 10 minute walk away too, which makes it perfect if you want easy beach access without being right in the middle of a busy resort. Another bonus was having one of the best dessert bakeries I've ever been to called, Monterno just across the road. You must visit there. What really made Theos Village special, though, was the family who run it. Yota, Alex and Michael clearly put a lot of care, love and hard work into the hotel, and that showed from the moment we arrived. Our flight from Manchester to Chania was delayed by two and a half hours, which meant we did not get to the hotel until close to midnight. Yota called to check that we were okay and then waited for us so we could check in properly and settle into our room. Those little touches make a huge difference. It is the kind of personal service you simply do not get in larger chain hotels or all inclusive resorts. We did not spend a huge amount of time in the room other than to sleep and shower, but it had everything we needed. It was comfortable, fully air conditioned, and cleaned daily, with fresh bedding and towels provided throughout our stay. The hotel is also perfect for lazy days by the pool, which is where the excellent food and cocktails really come in handy. My partner and I particularly enjoyed the chicken gyros, Cretan salad and pizza, and the cocktails were delicious too. It was lovely to have such good food and drinks available on site when we wanted a relaxed day without having to go far. A useful tip for anyone staying here is to use the local bus into Chania rather than relying on taxis, as they can be expensive. The number 15 and 21 buses both run into the centre roughly every 15 minutes, and the bus stop is only around a 3 minute walk from the hotel. Even better, you do not have to cross a road to get to it, which makes it really easy and convenient. Overall, we had a brilliant stay. Theos Village has a great location, comfortable rooms, lovely food, a relaxing pool area and, most importantly, genuine hospitality from a family who clearly care about their guests. We would 100% return and would happily recommend it to anyone visiting Chania.
