Golden Sands Hotel

We just spent a week at the Golden Sands hotel. A disaster. The hotel is at the end of its life. Average room. As soon as you open the bathroom and toilet door. Smell of sewage. One morning, there was no water at the tap. The bedding, no mattress protector. Clean bedding but very low quality. I developed a backache. Let's not talk about the restaurant. No choices available. The appearance of the dishes is not appealing at all. The lunch meal returns in the evening with different sauces, and the next days are just copy-pasted. Lack of fruits. The pitted apricots cut in half are strange!!! The staff is very cold at the restaurant. At the bar. The staff is very friendly except for Peter, Mr. Grumpy, a very unpleasant person who refused us a coffee at 9 PM and is supposed to serve coffee until 11 PM. A big thank you to Laurent, the French speaker. A very friendly person who is always available and helpful.

Myself and a friend have recently stayed here for 4 nights. Room- basic but clean. No issues. Entertainment- a little something on an evening e.g karaoke, Greek night and disco night. Nothing impressive. Food- not much of a variety. What they had wasn’t anything special. We chose to eat out instead as we personally wasn’t overly keen on what they had to offer. They open up a little snack bar by the pool at certain times through the day which offer toasties, burgers and hotdogs. Drinks- limited to bear, a couple of cocktails and some spirits. Pool- The pool is very deep, even the shallow end so be mindful if you have children. The pool was clean and the pool area was nice. Overall, we have had a good stay but I feel that improvements are needed e.g. food, drinks. I would have given it a 2 out of 5 review, but chose to give it a 3 as the staff, Dawn and George were brilliant!! Made us feel very welcomed. I hope the owners appreciate their hard work :)

Hotel very outdated, our bathroom was really dilapidated and the room smelled very bad from sewage odors backing up! As for the dining, a disaster! Hotel to avoid, really! The only thing we liked was the smile of the waitress Down and her kindness, and the bartender George! We will not repeat this experience.
