My wife, 4yo son and I had a fantastic 10 nights at Apollonion in June/July 2026. We were upgraded to a family room in the Asterias side of the hotel. Everything in the room was spotless and very modern, it was as if we were the first people to stay in the room. There was a slight issue with the bathroom as it was accessible and the shower head was too low. One call to reception and an adjustable shower riser was installed the next day! The hotel is spread over expansive grounds which are very nicely landscaped and kept in immaculate condition at all times. Luckily, our room was right next to the water park which was fantastic for us and our son. There is a good splash park area for the smaller children and 3 bigger slides for the bigger kids. A lazy river circles the larger slides with rings provided. The water park is very well run with plenty of sunbeds available and is spotless as per the rest of the hotel. There are two other pool areas with great size pools and an additional splash area for small kids. The food is varied and of good quality. It is comparable with other similar hotel buffets. We were HB as like to go out but used the Greek restaurant for a couple of lunches which was very nice and well priced. Didn't use the Italian but it looked nice from the outside. We were there during the WC and luckily for us (me) they showed the England games in the bar next to the restaurant/top pool. The staff were great which was the case throughout our stay. We found a route down to a better part of Xi beach out the back of the water park. There was also a great taverna at that part of the beach (Sparos Bistro) where we had lunch a few times. Entertainment is low key which suits us. The Greek night on a Thursday is great, they get everyone up dancing and the kids love it. All in all a great stay in a lovely part of Kefalonia. We don't usually consider returning to the same places but given the quality of this place we might just do so.
