Greka Ionian Suites

We chose GreKa Ionian Suites based on its excellent reviews, but unfortunately our experience did not match the rating. The location, views and pool area were the highlights. We loved Agia Efimia and Kefalonia overall. The apartment was clean but otherwise average and less appealing than from the photos. The busy road, untidy neighbouring buildings and limited privacy with clearly hearing neighbouring guests at night bothered us. Also, the AC was placed right above the beds. If left on, cold air blew onto us the whole night, if turned off, the room became too warm; no settings could help us get comfortable. But the worst was that throughout the stay, we did not feel particularly welcomed as a family with young kids, and several interactions felt more focused on rules than hospitality. Our arrival (after a terrible and long trip with two overtired kids) was very disappointing when crib we had requested and received confirmation for had not been prepared. Finally, our child accidentally broke a simple glass bathroom holder. We informed the owner immediately and apologized, but were only informed of 25€ charge at a checkout. It felt excessive and should’ve been communicated at the time. Overall, we enjoyed Kefalonia enormously but this accommodation was the most disappointing part and not somewhere we would chose to stay again.

This was our third visit staying in this accommodation. Nothing has changed but that's because nothing needs to change! Afroditi is a lovely host and ensures everything is in order. Agia Effimia is a lovely village and the locals are so friendly. Even though our last visit was in 2023 many business owners recognised us.

The Greka Ionian suites are well situated to explore the bars and restaurants of Agia Efimia. The rooms are a good size with a kitchen area and good wifi they are very clean and serviced every day. Agia Efimia is well positioned to explore the rest of the island by car, most areas are within easy reach. Aphroditi is an excellent host always very helpful and friendly with good advice on where to visit. We are already looking forward to returning.
