Marina Bay

This was our third visit and won’t be our last. The food is fantastic, freshly made and plenty of it. Rooms are cleaned every day. Sheets/towels changed every 3 days. Air con and a private safe is free. And there is a washing machine do you don’t need to take loads of clothes (bring washing sheets). The last time we stayed (two and three years ago) we didn’t eat in the hotel as the food was bad…however it’s now under new ownership and the staff and food are brilliant; there’s a choice of buffet or off the menu. The only thing I would change is the beds - they were too hard for us. As this was our third visit, and this third room, all the beds have been like it. Hopefully the new owners will get the mattresses sorted in time. The hotel had a garden area with plenty of sun beds to use, and the very long sandy beach (where turtles lay their eggs) is right in front of the garden. All in all, a gem of a hotel. The Animos restaurant (5 mins walk along the road/sea front) is amazing by the way. You’ll need to book though.

I definitely don’t recommend this hotel. The food is terrible, there’s not enough food for everyone, you have to remind and wait for them to bring more, but it takes a lot of time. Not much of a choice, definitely no choice for vegetarian people. No desserts, fruits mainly from cans. Same things everyday. We have to eat outside of the hotel in order not to be hungry… Our room during the week was cleaned 2 times (they told us at the beginning that they clean rooms everyday)… you have to pay for everything extra- even AC in the room is extra 10€ per day… sunbeds at the beach are also extra payed (even though they belong to the hotel). Also there’s some kind of building starting on the neighboring land- so it’s really loud most of the day- and I think it’s gonna be a while like that.

Contemplation, by its very nature, requires silence and a welcome opportunity for creative boredom. There's space for that here. There's space for walks along the expansive beach, for tracking turtle tracks, for stargazing, and there's water in the sea and pool. Meals are like meals; they nourish you. It's a good base for trips, both long and short (it's best to have a car), from which it's a pleasure to return, because the people who work here are so kind, including the gardener, a handyman, and the ever-smiling Eleni.
