This was the first time we had ever returned to the same hotel, change of ownership since the last, but very similar.
First of all, it is up a bit of a hill, some people were moaning about this, but as long as you don't have mobility issues, it should be fine.
Pool and communal areas kept neat and clean, and the staff were very helpful and polite throughout- they are a very big plus point for the hotel.
On previous stay we were in one of the apartment style buildings to the left which were excellent. This time we were in the tall building to the rear which wasn't quite as nice, although functional for what you need. Good air con and a fridge in your room. Shower was a bit strange with the shower head holder down at low level for some reason- shower could definitely be improved upon.
Seen previous reviews with people complaining about the food, but the lunch and dinner options were excellent every day with lots of variety that would surely keep everyone happy. The quality of food was good, and nice ice cream available at lunch times.
Down side for me was the breakfast- no hot options available, which as was different from our previous visit, was a bit disappointing.
Last visit one of the main plus points was the snack bar. This is no longer there, but some pretty sparse finger foods available from the bar instead. This was the biggest disappointment, would like to see the burgers toasties and crepes reintroduced.
Entertainment in the evening seemed to happen every second day, we were out most evenings so didn't catch much of it.
The new management are obviously keen to continue with improvements, and had people visit to engage with guests to form opinions, which I think is important and a sign that they are looking to make a good go of it.
Overall, you get what you pay for, not super luxury, but not a cheap shabby place either. It is value for the money, good location and can get buses to other parts of the island from the bottom of the hill.
If you go here, use a day to get the Astera boat BBQ cruise from the beach. Definitely worth it and not a lot of coin.
