Alba Hotel

Because of an ignorant ferry operative I found myself in downtown Zante, at 6.30 in the morning with 2 days to wait before I could catch said ferry, this time with a ticket, not cash, despite having tried to book by email. So after trying several hotels, for accommodation, I stumbled upon the Alva. The manager made a great show of doing calculations, on his requested cash basis and offered a 20% discount. Total, €150 for two nights. I was given a suite of two rooms and bathroom so I had a double bed and two singles to myself, with all mod cons. Later discovered on Booking .com that the room price was only €3 more through them and that he had two smaller rooms still available!!! Going down for breakfast I discovered that there was only a container of cornflakes without milk, tea, coffee, water or anything else. I've noticed from other reviews that the manager is reported as having a sense of humour. His continual ridicule and sheer impudence of my situation left me somewhat angry. Whenever we met he addressed me as Azimut, the name of the ferry which had refused me cash payment. So, beware, I'm appalled, I have Greek residency and wondered how a Greek would have been treated. But, in fairness, the hotel is in a fabulous location in the old town, but, there are several others.

We visited this hotel for an evening away from Alykes. We found it quite challenging to find the hotel as the sat nav was going crazy. However we eventually stumbled across it. It is an amazing location, just a very short walk from the main square. The owner was very friendly. The room was immaculately clean with very effective air conditioning. The balcony looked out across the traditional buildings. Some people have complained about the room size but it’s perfect for a few nights stay. We loved it and would definitely recommend. I don’t know what people want. The breakfast in the morning on the small terrace was excellent. Would definitely stay again next time we are in Zakinthos.

Theodore is the guy 🙌🏻👍🏻 He is friendly, peaceful, kindness, he helped us a lot with our crazy schedule and how travel around the city and Greece 🇬🇷If he didn’t know something, he google it to help us 🤗 Also a day when loose a day trip to Cephalonia, because of the weather, we advised us to enjoy Zakynthos, to take a rest and enjoy also my husband and I as a couple and to don’t be worry. It was almost impossible to relax, because our schedule didn’t have space for “weather mistakes”. But we follow the Theodore advice, that makes our trip been much more incredible ☺️ He also teached us what means “CEPARACALO” Greek word, that means: Please 🙌🏻👍🏻 Tks Theodore you makes the difference! “Ceparacalo” continues like that 👍🏻 Best regards, Caio and Bruna.
