Astir Palace

Bad experience – absolutely to avoid I stayed at Astir Palace in Zakynthos and I can say for sure that it was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. The “all inclusive” is a joke: the food was so terrible that after trying it only once I preferred to eat out for the rest of the stay. The rooms are very old, with a bathtub equipped with a yellow-stained plastic curtain, really disgusting. Air conditioning is placed directly above the bed, making it impossible to sleep without being hit by a jet of cold air. After 12 noon, the room is no longer cleaned, and there is not even a hairdryer: you have to go to reception to ask for it, as if it were a luxury. The staff is rude and unhelpful, and when we asked for a courtesy room for the day of departure, we were allocated a room in indescribable condition: dirty, with hair stuck in the shower drain, which flooded completely. It was impossible to wash. The beach does not even have deck chairs, available only by the pool. I sincerely wonder how this hotel can have 4 stars: it does not deserve even one. I have travelled a lot, but I had never experienced such a disappointment, and what is more, we did not spend much. I highly recommend this property!

Room felt stuck in the 1980s, with outdated furniture. Shower water was salty, bathroom had no window and the fan didn’t work. Internet was down, parking was tiny, breakfast was the worst I’ve seen, and thin walls made every noise from other rooms impossible to ignore. Not worth the stay.

A hotel in a special location on the sea. From the furniture you can see the old glamour he had. It requires a major renovation and mainly personnel. What he has is polite, willing but not enough to cover the needs of the hotel. Because I deal with the industry, I see that it loses revenue and does not exploit the situation properly. It is clean with large rooms, and recommended for families with children. In the shortcomings I would put first the absence of savior in the pool and the sea in front. The food in general is good, maybe a variety of coffee in the breakfast to help as well as the complete lack of water on the tables. In general and for the money someone pays is good.
