It was a manageable walk to the village with a wide choice of restaurants, bars and beaches.

We are leaving this glorious little place today, knowing we will definitely be coming back! Reading reviews prior to coming gave me reassurance, but seeing the place and experiencing its charm has made our family holiday simply perfect! Lovely welcome when we arrived, clean, comfortable rooms, a great array of food for breakfast and lunch, an immaculate pool, beautifully kept gardens, and such a relaxed, friendly atmosphere throughout our stay. The staff work incredibly hard and always have a smile, making us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. It's a 10-minute stroll into town where we enjoyed trying a different restaurant each evening, and it's truly been stunning. Recommend getting up and watching the fishermen coming in at 6am with their daily sardine catch, a lovely glimpse of local life that shouldn't be missed! Car hire from Dimitris in town was easy and very reasonably priced. We also recommend visiting Mantamados to see and buy pottery from the sixth-generation potters and visiting the monastery. It feels like you've stepped back in time and is a real privilege to experience. The drive through the hills is fascinating too, with beautiful scenery and traditional farming along the way. Agios Ermogenis is a stunning beach to visit, with crystal-clear water and a lovely little taverna. Mytilini is a must visit beautiful traditional buildings, full of charm for a capital city, and so clean. All in all, we can't fault the week we've just had. We had been searching for a more authentic Greek experience & we found it here. So friendly with genuine hospitality. Lovely quiet location with reasonable views of the estuary. Aprox 12 mins slow walk to the harbour area & a few very nice restaurants. We hired a car for three days & saw pretty much the whole island, its lovely everywhere. Enjoyed the Petra & Molivos area also. The hotel pool was really nice & plenty of sunbeds despite a few hoggers. Room dated but comfortable & good aircon. If we come back to Lesvos & Skala Kallonis, then we'll stay here again!
