We visited the hotel for a few days every summer, with the whole family, for the last four years. It is a place where we have a nice time and that’s why we repeat it. This year, unfortunately, had quite a few problems, with the main and most important the great shortage of staff. The staff at the reception, in the dining room, in the cleaning, etc. did everything they could and were polite, but surely not enough for the many obligations they had. The girls cleaned our room at three o'clock in the afternoon because they didn't suggest from the many rooms that each had. For the first time this year in the dining room the few employees there were not able to pick up the dishes from the tables and they were accumulating giving a very bad feeling in the space. The people I went to eat told the staff, when they found it, which foods are finished and need to be refuelled. At the reception, an employee tried to serve 2 and 3 customers simultaneously, forming a queue. I hope the management of the hotel understands that this march will lead to its decline, and as the well-known proverb says when Hodges learned his donkey not to eat he died.

This particular hotel is presented as a 4-star, but in reality it is not even 3. The photos in the rooms are presented very differently from what they are in reality. Our own room was too small, in the bathroom the bathtub was rusty and the curtain was dirty, it had only liquid for the shower and no shampoo, and its walls were full of dead mosquitoes. When we made the booking we were not told about the hotel tax which was 20€ per day. The receptionist was rude, unspoken, and when we mentioned all these problems he was shaking his head. It is really a shame for a hotel with such a beautiful natural environment, with careful gardens and vegetation, to lose to the rest.

Unfortunately the Alkyon Spa was a disappointment - don't book if you're hoping for a relaxing spa break because the facilities will let you down. We arrived (May 2026) and were told that the heated pool was closed from 3.30pm every day for children's private swimming lessons. So if you arrive at check-in time (2pm), you have just 1.5hrs to use the pool. There is a separate 'spa' area with jacuzzi, sauna, steam - which costs €10 per person (this cost was not advertised anywhere at booking). When we arrived at the spa, they informed us that they need 1.5 hrs notice for the facilities to be 'switched on'. And if you wanted to use those facilities from 3.30pm, you'd have the relaxing pleasure of hearing kids being taught how to swim in the pool which is above the spa area through a skylight. The room we had was ok (we paid extra for a Superior Suite), but the spa facilities really let the whole experience down - don't book in off-season (Sept-May) would be my recommendation. Realistically - this is a 3 star hotel, with 4-star prices.
