Arcadia

The hotel is in the heart of the town. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The bathroom fantastic. The room space more than adequate. The breakfast is rich enough and the personnel prepares for you any kind of coffee you want if you ask for it. The ladies at the reception desk smiling and trying to do their best. One addition for the future is to add satelite TV programs as the local programs are very few and all in Greek.

This Hotel is in fine position and very close to the city centre. Booking by phone [and change of stay dates] was easy and gentle, the hotel and the room was clean and nice designed, bed was fine, personnel at breakfast was perfect and the price for 1 night stay was OK for the area and location. The first disappointing thing was that you must be very very lucky to park at the front of the hotel, even thought there are 4 parking positions for the hotels' guests according to the municipality's sign in front of the hotel !! [attached photo]. The hotel's reception personnel doesn't care if you will find a parking position and even thought they have the proper equipment [movable signs] to occupy those 4 parking positions for the guests, they don't bother and they do nothing about it. In addition to all that, the rude receptionist informed me 3 times, that even if she will occupy a parking position for me, if an another person [non-hotel guest] arrive and park at the occupied position, then she is not able to do anything. The question is simple: if the municipality's sign is not valid, why is it still there and why Arcadia Hotel still has those movable parking occupation signs at the pavement ? In my experience, if the sign was not valid, the municipality would have it removed ages ago, since there is a serious luck of parking positions at the area for the local citizens. I had to park illegally for 10 minutes at the hotels' front, unload my bags, pay for the room [as she insisted] go upstairs to my room to leave them, then go down again and find a legal parking position 3 roads away. Finally after my three repeated requests to the reception and after 3,5 hours, she called me and told me that she kept a parking position at the front of the hotel [one of the 4 hotels' positions]. Unfortunately I was also very disappointed by the reception desk on my arrival: the girl at the reception was smiling but she was rude. She demanded to pay for the room just on my arrival and before I go upstairs to my room. I gave in and I payed. At my room the one chair was dirty and the second one was worn. The tap at the shower needed a fix. And at the top of all the above the air conditioning / heat was controlled only by the reception and was closing automatically after 20-30 minutes. I had to call more than 4 times to the reception to re-open the air conditioning, even thought they could remotely see if the my room windows were closed and what my room temperature was [the strange thing was that they already knew all those info but they could not see from which room I was calling]. Arcadia Hotel does not represent the typical Greek hospitality and practices.

Upon my check-in I made a request for any room with a balcony, and much too my surprise two hours later I got an upgrade to an executive room free of charge! Gestures of this kind speak volume of the hotel management. Thank you for making my stay at Arcadia hotel one of a kind.
