Akti Beach Club

Last year we stayed in a Akti hotel in Rhodes and there they advertised they had other hotels so we thought we would try the Akti Beach in Kos. Unfortunately although both classed as 5 stars the Akti in Kos didn’t feel like a 5 or 4 stars and I rate it at a 3 star plus. I would like to say we made the most of our holiday and did have a nice time but wouldn’t return. Pros - hotel was nice enough, clean and had everything that was needed. - The beach bar food was fab and was cooked fresh there and then. -Room again was cleaned daily (my only downfall for this was no complementary water upon arrival in the room we had ( surely a bottle of water wouldn’t have broken the bank) - nice walk into Kardamena from the hotel on the beach front which takes about 45 minutes. - some spirits are branded which was a nice touch -staff in the restaurant were very friendly - on site shop - coffee machine in reception was also a nice touch Improvements needed in my opinion - the free shuttle bus which is a great idea is carnage (everyone just shoves and pushes ) surely there could be a better system in place to pre book likes other places we have stayed - food in the restaurant (every all inclusive we have stayed at Iv never said the food could be improved except now) there was no theme nights expect Chinese every night. Food over cooked and not replaced fast enough to keep up with demand - I appreciate this won’t be everyone’s thoughts but this was definitely ours. Even my husband who is the least fussiest struggled on some nights. Oil seems to be used on most things which when you’re not used to that can be off putting. - pools (this one for me did put a little damper on our stay) the pools are so cold on some days even in the middle of July which was off putting to get in ( you did get used to it after 5 minutes in but if you don’t like jumping in like myself then you sat on the edge for what feels like ages trying to brave getting in) - can’t comment on the beach as although we walked past , gave it a miss due to previous reviews of it being really rocky to get in and therefore did a beach day at Kardamena instead - entertainment during the day - from reading responses to reviews from management my understanding is that there is a separate team for international and Italian (however when your sat around the pool and there’s some kind of game going on but the entertainment team is only speaking in Italian , you kind of feel excluded (can’t even join in with cheering them on as you have no idea what’s going on) just felt very odd - Tasos in the pool bar was the only member of the team that we were disappointed with . He seemed to have an issue with the glasses in an evening . For example if we ordered a beer and a Pepsi , he would tell us to fill our own Pepsi using the paper cups further down . I then advised we would like a glass with ice and he would reluctantly then give us the empty glass with ice to take and fill ourselves (none of the other staff did this just him) just felt like he didn’t really want to be there Like I said we made the most of our holiday and did come back feeling more refreshed but unfortunately we wouldn’t return due to the food and pools

A great surprise upon arrival, room upgrade from a family room to a maisonette, thank you again, the room was super, everything was there and tip-top clean! The entire facility is very well-maintained, clean, and the staff everywhere are friendly and accommodating. Those who prefer things a bit quieter should book in the adults-only section. Wonderfully quiet, private pool, private restaurant with a buffet, varied, fresh, and everything very delicious. The bar team makes great drinks and there is a separate entertainment program every evening. If you want a bit more action or variety, no problem; there is always something going on at the main or fun pool, and there is a varied animation program. Even more delicious food options, but also more hustle and bustle and noise, can be found in the main restaurant. The small sand and pebble beach is right across the street; you can always find a place there to relax. The sea is crystal clear and wonderful! Don't forget water shoes! We treated ourselves to a massage at the spa; thank you, Petar, for the deeply relaxing 70 minutes of Greek massage, it was wonderful! It was a wonderful vacation, heartfelt thanks!

This hotel is in the middle of nowhere, if you like to pop out of a daytime/evening for a stroll it’s over 3.5km to get to the beginning of kardemena town. There are no local, shops or bars close by. The evening entertainment is only in the amphitheater, which is quite uncomfortable, if you sit round the main bar there is no music, entertainment or much atmosphere. The main restaurant is very hot, all communal areas don’t have good enough air conditioning, so if you do want to eat inside it’s even hotter. The beach - if you like a nice beach do not visit this hotel, especially if you have children or any kind of physical disability, to get in and out the sea is hard work, there’s a few sand bags other than that it’s stones all the way along in the water and even the beach is pebbles/shingle. The food and drinks are fairly decent but the “show cooking” area is Chinese every night. There are no other themed nights. The rooms vary, as a family with 16 people, everyone was scattered, some rooms were newer than others, but as this hotel is classing itself as a 4*, the rooms are no where near this kind of rating. The main pools are decent, but this hotel claims to have 9 pools, most of these pools are a lot smaller and outside guests rooms as a pool solely for there use, you’d feel like an intruder dipping in them. There are 2 main pools and the adults pool. Overall I’d give this hotel a 3* maybe a plus but that’s being generous. Due to the location, beach and air conditioning I would not return to this hotel. I would say this is hotel is on the more expensive side for what your getting
