Porto Naxos

We wanted a comfortable hotel with a pool, near the beach and not far from Chora and Porto Naxos ticked all the boxes. The garden view room was very comfortable and met all expectations from the website. A special mention to Alex on reception who made sure that our holiday went to plan and all of the other staff who were excellent in every respect. A big thank you to Viktor who looked after the pool area and made sure that drinks and snacks were easily available. The hotel is a short walk to the beach and the town with a bus stop directly outside and a great supermarket across the road.

The Porto Naxos Hotel was very nice and staff were super friendly, helpful and lovely. Big shout out to Kelly, Kostas, Alex and lovely pool man Viktor ( sadly the older male manager we saw walking around looked like he would rather be anywhere else but there!). The breakfasts were excellent but I would say that overall it wasn’t strictly a 4 star. Rooms and overall decor and design of the accommodation were of a good standard and aesthetically lovely but my ‘ garden room’ balcony actually looked out onto a parking lot and I had to request a change of shower head as the one I had initially was just a hand held unit that gave hardly any water coverage. In addition the shower was over a very narrow bath with a simple curtain that kept sticking so not the most comfortable experience for me. But the staff did try to accommodate by changing the shower head to a better one and the water pressure was good in the end. There was an option to be upgraded to a room with a balcony that looked out onto the pool for an extra €25 per night. Also the Olive and Thyme restaurant that is quoted on the website wasn’t in fact open for anything other than breakfast when we were there. There was no means of getting a coffee or a drink in the actual hotel after breakfast unless you went to the pool bar which shut at 8pm. This was a shame in our view as the hotel lounge area was absolutely lovely and it would have been nice to finish off our evening with a drink or a coffee when we got in. Overall a lovely hotel with excellent staff but lacking facilities you would expect of a 4 star hotel.

We stayed here for three nights in a Garden Room. This is not a 4-star hotel. It is in need of a renovation and upgrade. Our Garden Room, actually looked out onto a dirt lot with abandoned vehicles. The bathroom had a tub, with no grab bars, which made it difficult getting in and out. The reception staff were not that helpful, unlike our experience elsewhere in Greece. The location of the hotel was about 20-25 minutes walking to old town and the city center-the biggest problem was the vehicle traffic on some of the roads, due to a lack of sidewalks. The breakfasts were good, and the breakfast staff very nice.
