We stayed as a couple (32 and 33 years) for 6 nights at Belair Beach Hotel in Rhodes and had booked all inclusive. Overall, unfortunately, our conclusion is rather disappointing. The hotel definitely has some plusses, however, during our stay we had the feeling again and again that the all-inclusive offer saves in many places. Rooms: Our room in the new building was really nice and modern. Unfortunately, the fridge was extremely noisy so we could not sleep without unplugging it. This should not be the case with a new room. In the room there was an electric kettle for tea and coffee, but no bottle of water. Since you should not drink the tap water, we wondered what the kettle is actually for. Drinks & all inclusive: This is where we find the biggest criticism. The water did not taste good at all and the mixed drinks also seemed very cheap in quality. The beer was still the best. The coffee obviously came from powder – unfortunately there was no real lobby bar with good bean coffee. For a Freddo or iced coffee you had to pay extra. We found the handling of all-inclusive guests with the drinks particularly incomprehensible. During the day, plastic cups are completely traceable at the pool bar. In the evening, however, we also got plastic cups, while guests with half board who paid for their drinks additionally got their drinks partly nicely arranged with fruit in the glass. When we asked for a glass in the evening, we were told there were problems with the dishwasher. At the same time, we saw that other guests got their drinks in the glass. Unfortunately, this left us with the impression that all-inclusive guests should consume as little as possible. Especially if you book All Inclusive and have already paid for it, you don’t want to constantly get the feeling of having to spend extra money on water or reasonable coffee. We noticed that many all-inclusive guests apparently bought their water at the kiosk. Makes you wonder if that's the way it's supposed to be. Food: Breakfast was the best part for us. Especially the omelet was really delicious and the lady there was very friendly. Dinner was different: Sometimes really good, sometimes more average. Culinary it is certainly not a highlight, but overall fine. The ice wasn't good at all. The all-inclusive snacks at the pool bar, on the other hand, we found very disappointing. The selection was small and sometimes not particularly appetizing. No ice cream no crepe or waffles... just sandwich chips rice chicken.... It was striking for us that paid meals were served much more appealing. Personnel & service: The cleaners were always very friendly and always greeted us nicely – for that a big praise. Unfortunately, we had different experiences with the other staff. At check-in we had to wait a long time and did not really feel welcome. We remembered the pool bar particularly negatively. Some of the staff talked to each other and didn't even regard us as waiting guests. We found this to be very unfriendly and unhospitable. Other points: Some loungers were clearly sagged. There were also very thin copies of the towels. Positively noteworthy: The location of the hotel is really very good. Also our room in the new building we basically liked and the breakfast and the friendliness of the cleaners were clear pluses. Our conclusion: intentional and not skillful... Unfortunately, we had the overall feeling that the hotel is running on a budget and is saving in many places, especially with the All Inclusive. We are not concerned with luxury, but with small things that should be taken for granted with an already paid all-inclusive holiday: reasonable water, good drinks, a glass in the evening or a friendly service. For us, unfortunately, the price-performance ratio is not right on this point. We would not book the hotel again.

We’ve just returned from a two-week all-inclusive stay at the Belair, and overall I have mixed feelings. There were some definite positives, but also several things that disappointed us. The positives We were given a free upgrade to what the hotel called an Executive Room, which was a lovely surprise. Our room had a pool and sea view, was a good size, and had a large shower room. It was also spotlessly clean. There are quite a few different levels around the hotel, with lifts, slopes and steps to contend with, but overall we were very happy with our room. The food in the main restaurant was excellent, with plenty of choice throughout our stay. This was definitely one of the highlights of the holiday. We also appreciated the quieter pool area, which was much more relaxed and suited us far better. Quite an issue here with the sun beds though as a large number were broken. The negatives For us, the hotel seemed to be aimed more towards a younger clientele, with lots of young couples, families and groups. Of course, this isn’t necessarily a fault, but it just wasn’t the atmosphere we were looking for. The constant background music, particularly the heavy drum and bass-style music, became quite tiring and made us feel that we had chosen the wrong hotel. My biggest disappointment, however, was how I felt we were treated as all-inclusive guests. After two or three days, all our drinks were served in plastic cups. We were told there was a problem with the glass washer, but it was noticeable that guests on half board who paid for their drinks were still being served in proper glasses. On one occasion, I ordered and paid separately for a bottle of soft drink and was still given a plastic cup simply because I was wearing an all-inclusive wristband. I found this particularly frustrating. The soft drinks from the machines were far too syrupy for our taste, and we noticed many people leaving them. Quite a few guests, ourselves included, ended up going to the supermarket to buy cans instead. The cocktails were another disappointment. Even the premium cocktails, which were made using non-branded spirits, were very poor. In fact, the alcohol content in most of the drinks seemed almost non-existent unless you paid extra for branded spirits. The entertainment, which was brought in from outside, also didn’t feel what I would expect from a hotel advertising itself as four-star. That said, Alex and his team deserve credit. They worked extremely hard, and the fire show they put on was genuinely very good. Location The location also didn’t live up to our expectations based on previous reviews. The road outside the hotel was nose-to-tail with traffic from morning until night, and there didn’t appear to be a safe crossing point anywhere close to the hotel. The beach directly opposite the hotel was also disappointing compared with beaches further along in either direction. The resort itself didn’t have a huge amount to offer either, with mainly a few restaurants and not much else. Overall There were certainly things we enjoyed about the Belair, particularly our upgraded room, the cleanliness, the excellent food and the quieter pool area. However, taking everything into account, we felt that the hotel and location simply weren’t right for us. The atmosphere, treatment of all-inclusive guests, drinks and location were significant disappointments, and unfortunately we wouldn’t choose this hotel again.
