Esmeralda Apart Hotel

A pleasant small family hotel. With 2 super friendly girls in the service. Bella and Ivana help you with everything, super nice and helpful. The hotel is clean and you can eat fantastic! Beach is about a km walk. Think water shoes. Easy reach to Rhodes and airport with the bus stop in front of the door. Planes fly low overhead and the road is also busy but we have not experienced that as a nuisance. Will definitely be back!! Recommended

We’ve just spent a week at the Hotel Esmerelda and can’t recommend it highly enough. It’s a family-run hotel in Kremasti, just outside Rhodes City, and it makes a brilliant jumping-off point for seeing the rest of the island. The bus stop is right outside, and the buses are regular and air-conditioned. The location is also good and close to the airport, so some aircraft noise is guaranteed, but it’s a fair trade-off for how convenient the spot is otherwise. The staff are brilliant, and you can feel the family-run touch in everything they do. Nothing was ever too much trouble; just ask, and they’ll sort it out for you. The chef was fantastic too, with a new menu every day, and both breakfast and the daytime snacks were well catered for. The rooms were clean, regularly serviced, and well adequate for what we needed, with a lovely balcony. Air con is an extra cost, but well worth it if you’re visiting at the height of summer. The bar and pool area is well appointed, and if you’d rather not head out on a trip for the day, it’s just as easy to spend your time there as anywhere else nearby. The beach and other amenities are only a short walk away, and there are plenty of good food places and bars close by too. If you need supplies, there’s a well-stocked supermarket within walking distance, plus a few nice coffee shops nearby. All in all, we got exactly what we were after: a friendly, well-run hotel that leaves you feeling chilled and welcome from the moment you arrive. The only real downsides are that air con isn’t included in the room price and there’s some aircraft noise given how close you are to the airport, so factor those in. We’d happily stay again.

I recently stayed here for a week. It was excellent. The staff were all incredibly friendly, the place was very clean and the food both breakfast and evening meals were excellent with plenty of choice. I have read reviews with the moans and cannot say they wrong about the noise, it's on the flight path and also fronts onto the road. It's a background noise that you easily get used to and nobody complained or even mentioned it while I was there. The Walk to the sea never took me more than 15 min walking slowly in the heat and there was 3 excellent beach bars all with nice staff and choices of refreshments. A large number of my family were staying close by in an all inclusive 4*. They visited me on one occasion, as I had them daily. They were all very impressed with the cleanliness and hospitality offered. The only moan I heard was a genuine one, the shower is over the bath with quite a high side and they were even older than me and struggled a bit. I hadn't planned my visit but the grandkids talked me in going. Don't know that I'll ever return to Rhodes, but if I did I wouldn't hesitate booking here again.
