Rodos Princess Beach Hotel

70 steps to a crowded beach + Clean, spacious and well soundproofed two-bedroom Family Suite + Friendly staff, especially in the main restaurant and at the pâtisserie. + Good food. The selection was not very varied, but we always found something to eat. + The beach is sheltered from strong waves. + One rocky section is good for snorkelling. + The small island about 100 metres from the beach is a great destination for swimming and snorkelling. - The beach is small and can get very crowded during the main season, especially in the afternoon. It is also used by guests from the Princess Sun Hotel & Spa. - The sunbeds are packed into nine rows, with barely enough space to walk between them. - The sunshades cannot be tilted, which makes it difficult to stay in the shade. - Around one third of the already small beach is reserved for water sports. - Access requires around 70 steep steps. - The pushchair route has damaged asphalt, no shade and no separate pedestrian path. It is also used by a fast-moving shuttle bus from the Princess Sun Hotel & Spa. - The glasses at the beach bar did not appear to be properly washed. Several of us developed sore throats after drinking there. I would not recommend this hotel to families with a child in a stroller who plan to visit the beach often.

We visited Princess Rodos Hotel as a family of 4 with two children aged 11 & 13 booked with Jet2 holidays. POOLS: Fantastic sized main pool. A lovely touch is the in built beds by the fountain for relaxing in the heat. Some music played but not too loud that you can’t relax. The smaller pool near the water park is also nice and there is a children’s splashpool for little ones beside the water slides. If you want a sunbed you categorically have to go down at the main pool 0745-8am every morning and place towels down. At first I did not want to join in on this however after asking with reception they basically said they don’t remove towels so if you can’t beat them, join them! Every lounger is reserved and there are only a sporadic amount of cushions for the loungers too so you will only get these if you are super early. ROOMS: We had a family room with partition. It was spacious and had a great view of the sea. Towels were changed daily, bedding changed and moderately cleaned. The hairdryer did not work and when asked for a replacement was met with resistance and one night reception for it back to give to another guest. I would pack a hairdryer if you need/care about this as I heard others having a similar complaint. STAFF: The entertainment team, ALL of them are truly enthusiastic and it’s very natural and obvious to see they are enjoying themselves working there. Shout out to Marconi, Nico, Teddy, Mike. They do activities all day and then put on fantastic shows at night especially given they are doing this all the varied performances themselves. (One night staff member Mike is Simba and the other Freddie Mercury!) It is not a fault of the team themselves whatsoever as they really do give it their all but for a 4 + star hotel they should consider some outsourced entertainers on periodic nights to bring that expertise factor as many other hotels do. This is probably the only thing that is negative to say about the hotel overall. The daytime entertainment varies and there is lots of great things if you wish to join and I never found anyone pushing into this at all. This varies from Aqua aerobics, darts, bowls, water polo, greek lesson, soccer The activities are for adults only however some days they would allow my 11 year old son to join in and other days not depending on staff member. There are table tennis tables tucked away in an odd room these would be better on the ground floor near patisserie and would probably be well used too, especially for those wanting a short break from the sun. The bar located under the restaurant at night has a lovely ambience, many families sitting playing UNO or similar. Deborah has a lovely calm manner and was always very welcoming. FOOD: Fantastic standard at main restaurant, very clean, modern decor and staff again are very attentive, professional and courteous. We ate at the Venus Burger Restaurant (which is the pool cafe by day). The food was really great and well prepared. Staff again 5 * . Note for some reason you are told to pay for drinks when eating here however 20 yards away is a bar you can get drinks for free on all inclusive. This doesn’t make sense and should be considered to change. We also ate at the BBQ à la carte restaurant at the beach, gorgeous views of the sea and a lovely setting. TRIPS: We booked a fantastic boat trip of only 2 hours from the water sports hut located on the beach just right of the hotel beach restaurant. We took the Glass Bottom Boat to St Paul’s Bay and surrounding areas. The boat only has around 15 people on board and allows everyone for a swim stop off too. Fantastic if you don’t want to do all day trip and bus transfer etc. The views were breathtaking. We also visited Rhodes Town using the Rhodes Express from Impress Holidays which is located across the road however the Jet 2 rep is the one that passed on our details to book this. It took around 1 hour. What a beautiful town to visit old and new. Absolutely worth going if staying in Kiotari. Overall we had a really great holiday to Rhodes and would recommend the hotel to other families/return. The restaurant/bar and entertainment staff absolutely make this hotel 4 star.
