Absolutely incredible hotel with a truly magical atmosphere. The service was the best part – warm, genuine and exceptionally welcoming from start to finish. Our room was beautiful, spacious, exceptionally clean and spotless, with a private balcony right on the edge of the Caldera and absolutely breathtaking views.
There are quite a few stairs, but we managed them happily because everything else was simply so amazing. Agali Houses feels like a wonderful family-run hotel where you truly feel wanted, cared for and welcome. A very special place that we would gladly return to.

Pros: Beautiful view.
Cons: First, let me note that we are in our 70's. It was 147 steps down (and up!) from the street to our room. The steps are uneven and there is no railing, if this matters to you. (The bellman who carried our luggage was like Hercules.) Each room appears to be a separate small building all gathered together on the hillside. We had an Executive Room with Caldera View. It was OK, but certainly not great. It was like a junior suite where the entry area had a small TV, a desk and an uncomfortable sofa. The bed was OK. The bathroom was not. We could not flush anything in the toilet and had to put the toilet paper in a trashcan. And since we could only drink bottled water, it would have been nice if they had given us more of it. Our room also had a nice patio where we could have sunbathed if we hadn't been touring. The breakfast buffet was small and basic, and the bar was only open limited hours.

We booked the Sunset Suite with private pool for 1 week and had except for a few little things and a somewhat disturbing conclusion, a very nice time. But in turn.
The journey to Firostefanie we had organized ourselves. Booking directly with the hotel was cheaper than with the well-known online portals. On arrival we were already expecting a porter who received our suitcases and these 165! Dragging down steps, the poor guy, it's not like it's not still warm...
Checking in went smoothly, then exploring the suite immediately. As seen in the hotel photos, it is a dream. The refined floor plan due to the local conditions with the raised bathroom which allows a view of the living room and the poo, as well as the bedroom which also allows a raised view of the terrace, is beautiful, only stairs should not disturb one ;)
If you really wanted to improve, it might be sockets on the afterboxes and maybe working lamps in the pool to get an even nicer flair in the evening. But that's high-level whining.
The breakfast was great and the staff very nice. When my wife had to stay in the room we got a free breakfast room service. Also the complex is very well maintained and the public pool with pool bar very welcoming.
The only shade on these great days was over our pool at around 5am on the day of departure. That was cleaned that night, according to the reception. One can imagine that this cannot take place without the generation of noise. So the night was over, in addition to the fact that we had a late flight and just didn't have to get up early. That both the private and the hotel pool was quite fresh, is probably hotel standard and you have to accept. It was too cold for me.
All in all, it was a quite relaxing and nice getaway.
If you still want to go tasty food near the hotel, I can highly recommend Mama Thira! Possibly reserve a table if you want to sit on the edge (sunset) otherwise an absolutely authentic and delicious Greek!
