This was our second visit to Kamari but our first to Hotel Alexandra. Overall, we had a lovely holiday and the accommodation was absolutely fine. Rooms were cleaned everyday but the drains in our bathroom always smelt despite reporting it to reception. Breakfast was ok, personally I thought the pastries could be better and a selection of jams. The pool and bar was fine. Getting a sunbed was difficult especially towards the end of our holiday when I think the owners family arrived, who then thought they ran the place. I was having to get up at 6.30 and stay with the beds. They said if beds were left for several hours then towels would be removed. This wasn’t true, as one day we left our towels on the beanbags for no more than one hour (literally walked to the bakery and back) and ours had been removed - genuinely believed this was because family arrived that day and wanted to sit where we were - felt rather unfair considering we no doubt paid more for our holiday. Would I return, yes but I would just go to the beach because nobody wants to be setting an alarm for 6 am on holiday!

Alexandra Hotel Santorini If there were an option to give half a star, that’s exactly what I would give. The staff are racist. They only treat you with respect and kindness if you spend a lot of money at the bar. Otherwise, they have no respect for you and are very unwelcoming. For example, the bald man working at the bar told me not to come to the bar while I was wet from the swimming pool because I was making the floor wet. At the very same time, I saw two or three other men who were just as wet as I was. The only difference was that they were Greek. They were not turned away like I was. That was extremely frustrating and made me feel discriminated against. Another issue is hygiene. The women who clean the rooms also work in the kitchen. I found that disgusting. We were staying in a room close to the reception, and every single day for seven days we were woken up by loud laughter, children screaming, dogs barking, and people at the bar talking very loudly from around 7:00 a.m. onwards. However, on my last night, I was sitting on my balcony talking quietly on the phone at around midnight when a man from the bar came over and told me to speak more quietly because people were sleeping. Yet nobody seemed to care about my sleep for the previous seven days. Was I supposed to wake up with everyone else every morning? I’m not an early riser, and I’m certainly not 60 years old. To sum it up, this hotel was terrible. I chose it because it was cheaper, but I still paid £1,400 for seven days with breakfast included. The breakfast was practically the same every single day: eggs, beans, tomatoes, and cucumbers. At least change the menu once in a while. Overall, this hotel was disappointing, poorly managed, and completely ruined my holiday. I would never stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone.

The Alexandra hotel ticked every box for us . On arrival ,we were taken to our beautiful room in the main building. It was perfect with one of the best showers I’ve had on any holiday . Amazing air con ,sea view & tv with British channels . Breakfast had a good selection of hot and cold food . The staff as always about cleaning and clearing things away and replenishing food . The pool could do with more sun loungers for the number it accommodates , but it was never an issue for us . The food at the bar is fresh and tasty with plenty of choice . If you don’t like planes this is maybe not the right hotel for you . It’s very close to the airport , but we found it fascinating to watch the planes fly over spotting different airlines . It wasn’t disruptive in any way in fact I’d say it added to the appeal of it . To get to the promenade where there are countless bars and restaurants and shops it’s about a 10/15 minute walk . We found different short cuts throughout our stay and actually enjoyed the quiet streets before you hit the livelier main area . This hotel is exceptional value for money , with attentive friendly staff and a perfect part of Kamari to have a relaxing holiday . I wouldn’t hesitate to book this hotel again .
