Black Sand Apartments

Just retuned from 11 nights at this lovely small and welcoming apartment complex. From arriving to leaving we felt welcomed and relaxed. We had read in other reviews about Manthra, the owner, and she certainly lived up to the hype. Warm, welcoming, informative and nothing was too much trouble. She even allowed us to keep our room until 1830 on the day of departure at no cost to us…this is unheard of nowadays. Thank you 🙏🏻 The rooms are traditional with an upgraded bathroom. The traditional style worked well. Everything was well maintained and looked after. We had everything we needed. The air conditioning was excellent and welcome after a hot day/night. The bathroom had been refurbished and the rainfall shower was probably one of the best I’ve used home or abroad. No issues with temperature and the pressure was really good-top marks!! Towels were changed every two days, never once had to ask for this and we received the correct amount of towels for the three of us-again this can be quite rare. You do not need to take beach towels, these are provided for you free of charge and they fit the sun lounges perfectly. You can also take them to the beach, and you can change them as and when required. Our beds were made up for us every day, linen changed as and when needed, again didn’t have to ask. The maids worked so hard, they clean the apartments every single day. They even wash your dirty pots if they’re left..we didn’t do this intentionally btw, but thank you. They even fill up the washing up liquid for you if you’re running low 🙂 Everywhere is cleaned constantly. The pool area is jet washed every few days. The sun loungers hand washed, I think every day. The leaves/flowers from the beautiful bougainvillea are swept up all the time, as it does shed, especially in the wind. All the staff work hard, the young girl and boy at the bar, the maintenance man, the breakfast hostess -and of course Manthra. Breakfast is simple but tasty. Eggs every day, sometimes bacon, fresh melon, bread, cake, cheese/ ham etc. Fresh natural Greek yogurt with various accompaniments- the cherries in syrup were my favourite. The food at the bar is good and well priced as are the drinks. This place is a true hidden gem, and if we ever visit Santorini again, we would definitely stay here ahead of anywhere else.

For the fourth time in this small apartment complex. Just fantastic in all sorts of areas. Okay there is sometimes some difference in the rooms, but the beds are good, they are clean, the showers are good, the pool is nice, the breakfast is good. there is drinks available and / or a small meal at the bar where you can relax. But best of all is Mantha, who is always ready with all advice and deeds. Her actions during an accident were phenomenal. Also arranging other room on the ground floor instead of up the stairs was no problem at 24.00 at night. A woman out of thousands! Tirelessly she takes care of the guests!
