We stayed at Real Plaza over Semana Santa (2 adults, one child). The place is beautiful - lovely room, gardens and pool well maintained, which is what you can see in the photos. However, service-wise, it was a disappointing (and a bizarre!) experience. While there was always someone at reception, there was no one by the pool or anywhere else. Toilets by the pool were closed. When I tried to open the sun umbrella by the pool, it was so decrepit it actually fell into the pool! At this point a staff member appeared and just took the umbrella away without saying anything or getting us another one. Here are the policies of this hotel you need to be aware of: - no cafe/bar on site; - if you want a drink, reception have a mini fridge so you can have a coke/sprite or a beer. These must be consumed IN YOUR ROOM only, and not allowed anywhere on the grounds or by the pool. Yep - you can't even have a coke by the pool; - no restaurant/snacks on site; - nothing from outside (food/drink) to be consumed in your room; another guest had a big telling off for bringing some food in; - nearest shop/cafe is 10-15 mins walk if you do need to get a snack/coffee; - need to pay $20 deposit for the safe (no idea why, particularly given the prices for the room). Not all rooms have a safe. - breakfast is pretty awful. First day we had it, it was a small buffet and they had small cocktail sausages. You can't help yourself - and when I asked the server for three sausages (they were tiny) he told me only 2 were allowed per person. We didn't go for breakfast for the rest of our stay, apart from the morning we were leaving. - you need to get a ticket from the reception for breakfast, which they stamp with a date, even though they have hardly any guests staying. - the room key has an enormous wooden tag attached to it so you can't take it out of the hotel. The whole place felt somewhat abandoned, like a tomb, with no staff around and hardly any guests. We didn't feel welcome at all, it was as if they just wanted us to stay in our rooms. This hotel has huge potential with better management. The building, gardens, pool are there already - they just need to be run properly.

Very helpful, beautiful rooms and gardens and delicious breakfasts. The only thing wrong is that Internet service doesn't reach the rooms well. It was a family stay and everyone liked it. You can tell how careful they are. I recommend it 👌

Awful! Despite asking ahead of time about the restaurant service, it was slow and poorly treated, although there were few diners. The dishes did not conform to the description of the menu, missing two accompaniments; in addition, the presentation left to be desired. My partner and I discussed it and within half an hour the restaurant manager arrived with excuse and did not provide us with the indicated and when paying they charged 20% service and did not want to provide invoice (we requested it) only gave us a broken paper with the final amount noted in pencil. To top it off, the owner treated me hostilely for having taken a picture of me and scolded a waiter who, kindly, offered to take a picture of my partner and me, this having already paid. The owner started following us everywhere, with a terrible look, we ignored her and seeing that we did not yield she approached with 2 waitresses and told us to leave the hotel without a valid explanation. It is not acceptable for a customer to be treated in this way, especially after having made a consumption and more that this consumption was not as offered by them, failing to provide invoice and charging more than due in service (and of poor quality).
