Dorsett Kwun Tong - Hong Kong

We have stayed at Dorsett hotels in different parts of the world, so unfortunately this stay was particularly disappointing and not at all what we expected from the brand. Things did not start well. The first room we were allocated felt tired and tatty and had a very noticeable smell of cigarette smoke. We raised this and were moved to another room, but unfortunately the second room also had a strong smell of cigarettes. At this point, we explained to the Duty Manager that we were unhappy with the standard of the accommodation and asked whether it would be possible to receive a refund so that we could move to another hotel. We were told that this was not possible. I then asked whether there were any upgraded rooms available. There was a suite available, but we had to pay approximately an additional £260 to move into it. Given that we were already unhappy with the rooms we had been offered, it was frustrating to feel that the only realistic way of getting more acceptable accommodation was to pay considerably more. I asked to speak with the General Manager and was subsequently approached by another manager from Guest Relations. I want to be fair and acknowledge that they did try to help us, and I do not dispute the efforts made at that stage. However, ultimately the fundamental problem was the condition and standard of the rooms. Even the suite, while obviously larger and an improvement, still felt tired and tatty in places and did not, in my opinion, reflect the standard or appearance suggested by the photographs on the website. Overall, the hotel felt much more like a budget property than the Dorsett hotels we have previously experienced, and parts of it felt in need of significant refurbishment. What was perhaps most disappointing was how we felt for the remainder of our stay. After raising our concerns, there seemed to be very little engagement from staff, and we were left feeling uncomfortable and, frankly, somewhat unwanted. If the hotel felt unable to provide accommodation with which we were comfortable, I believe allowing us a refund so that we could move elsewhere would have been the better resolution. I don’t leave a review like this lightly, particularly as we have previously chosen Dorsett hotels elsewhere in the world. Sadly, this experience has changed how we feel about the brand, and I cannot see us choosing to stay with Dorsett again. I will also be writing separately to Dorsett’s head office with a more detailed account of our experience, because I believe the condition of this particular property and the way our concerns were ultimately handled warrant further attention.

Imagine not being able to watch Hulu or Netflix at night when the internet gets congested. Or having an A/C that never really gets to the temperature you set it. Nice staff aside, its not worth whatever money you think you're saving here. They should fire their IT vendor. Would not recommend.

Good location, convenient, surrounded by interesting local delicates, walking distance to APM mall, but won’t be affected by any noise. We experienced warm hospitality from the hotel staff. The housekeeping team kept the room clean and provided attentive service, while the front desk and concierge were both efficient. Catering is also good, the restaurant at 1st floor provides quality food. Experience with this hotel exceeded our expectations. We will recommend it to friends and will choose to stay again for business needs.
