Times' Budget Hotel Hong Kong

What a joke, we got off a late flight and headed to the Chuning King Mansions. The entrance was very intimidating with a lot of Indian and African men hanging about. We headed up to Times or what we thought was times and after an hour of up and down in the lifts we were told by a rude African man that he owned the Las Vegas group and :Times was part of his chain but was full so he had arranged for us to stay in one of his other rooms. 20 mins later we were meet by a more pleasant Indian man who took us to what can only be described as a show box or handy man’s cupboard with beds in it. This room was located at the Dipity Hotel. The light fittings were broken the bedding was stained a lot the walls were mouldy the shower and the toilet are in the same room so I suggest using the toilet before you have a shower. When we woke in the morning and turned the lights on the floor proceeded to run away. I know that because of the humidity in Hong Kong there will always be some roaches but this was incredible. We tried to have a shower but the water was cold. The basin and floor had pubic hair all over it had not been cleaned since the place was built. There was a TV hanging from the wall but we were too scared to turn it on as we did not want to get an electric shock. A part from the polite man who checked us in and the location I suggest you pay a little more (as this was not cheap) and stay in a nicer hotel.

I traveled to HK on july 14-17. As i arrived at the building chong king mansion, where this establishment was located, my first impression was not so pleasant, with 2 sets of lifts serving each of the 4 mansions above. when i first saw the room, i didnt think it was a room but more like some sort of storage/pantry where they kept bathroom supplies. anyway it turned out to be my room :} I would have expect a little more, since its not dirt cheap. To give an idea, room was about 6x6 feet with a short narrow corridor, while bathroom was probably 4x2.5 feet... not kidding. There are few provisions, only toilet roll and towel is provided. however, the place was cleaned daily and meticulously, no complaints at all on that front. all in all, since we are talking about hk, this is probably one of the cheapest places and considering its right in the heart of kowloon, i'd say its good value, just because its HK. Anywhere else, it wouldnt be.
