We booked a stay at Andrássy Kúria & Spa in July 2026, heavily influenced by its prestige and Michelin recommendations. Unfortunately, the experience was a complete disaster, marked by alarming hygiene issues and shockingly poor property maintenance.
Critical Food Safety Concerns (Breakfast & Dining):
The breakfast service raises severe health concerns. Highly perishable items—including cut fruits, cream cheese, eggplant salad, and various dairy/egg-based sauces—were left completely exposed to the open air without any refrigeration. They sat out in the warm room until they visibly discolored and began to sour, posing a genuine risk of food poisoning. When we confronted the staff about these hazardous food storage practices, they admitted it was improper but claimed that "management wants it this way." Dinner at the property was equally flawed: the main course fish arrived cold, and the kitchen served the exact same dessert two nights in a row, yet delivered it in completely different shapes, textures, and presentations.
Sub-par Hotel Maintenance & Cleanliness:
For a property of this tier, the room conditions were unacceptable. Our room had visible mold stains on the ceiling, dirty curtains, heavily stained bathroom and vanity mirrors, and poorly cleaned shower glass. To make matters worse, parts of the walls were stained and clumsily patched up/repainted in a completely different color shade.
Deficient Spa & Dismissive Management:
The spa facilities are poorly managed, with unpleasantly cold pool water and a main jacuzzi that was barely lukewarm. When we professionally raised these operational and safety issues, the staff gave a dismissive, defensive reply: "That’s just your opinion, no one else has complained."
Management clearly compromises on basic hygiene, proper maintenance, and guest safety. I am uploading comprehensive photographic evidence documenting the mold, the stained room, and the improperly stored food alongside this review. Avoid this place until they fix their standards.

Well, forget about 5-stars from the very beginning, of course. I won’t put any star rating onto Andrassy, I would just call it a friendly old-fashioned hotel located in a village of Tokaj region. It was like traveling in a time machine into 90s of 20th century. But the staff is trying to be helpful (within level of their training of course). We gave a couple of shirts to laundry and they returned them in 2 hours just pressed, not washed. We gave them back and next morning they were washed too. 😊
My wife and I came here to explore Tokaj wines, so we haven’t used the spa, that I guess majority of guests are coming for. But we saw an absolutely huge interior pool. The gym is very small, but functionable. Absolutely fine, especially taking into account that I was alone there every day. All in all, I would recommend Andrassy without doubt and my rating would be much higher if not one issue: bells of nearby church. They start sounding them every hour starting at 5 in the morning. And it isn’t just a number indicating an hour, they slam the bell at least 50 times making absolutely sure that nobody in the vicinity sleeps. I understand hotel management might not have a possibility to influence it, but since Tripadvisor is to assist other travelers: be aware that here you won’t be able to have a good morning rest.

A beautiful hotel and gorgeous pool/spa facilities. The entire facility (including our large room) was very clean and laundry service was quick and inexpensive. Turndown service/housekeeping were charming, as was our welcome drink of local bubbly. Since Andrássy is located in a small village, there are few dining options available, but the hotel restaurant (Talu) is large and has an extensive menu and wine list. It also offers a generous breakfast buffet (the maîtresse d' is very business-like). Taxi can be requested, but is expensive as the driver comes from nearby Tarcal. Some suggestions for the hotel would include a tour of the spa/pool facilities for guests (rules for use, towels, services offered) and an increased number of English-speaking staff. For a 5-star hotel, that should be standard. As it was, we couldn't take proper advantage of the spa, couldn't understand our final bill and felt unwelcome when told our dinner reservation made weeks earlier couldn't be honoured due to the arrival of a large government party. In the end, there was, in fact, ample room for us, but no one, including the manager, came to explain or apologize. We were the only guests asked. One bright face: the young man at the front desk (Mattias?) - competent, well-spoken and smiling!
