Hotel Orion Varkert

We visited Budapest for a mini break for a gig at Budapest Park. Location wise, it's on the quiet side of the river, a good 15 /20 minute walk to restaurants, groceries etc. Sadly it was 31° heat on our visit, so having to walk 20 mins to find lunch/dinner seemed quite the challenge at times (we're veggie so options were minimal) using Wolt (deliveroo equivalent) was a godsend for us for one night) The hotel, as others have said, isn't the most modern. The decor is quite dated, but our room was spacious and clean with a very large comfortable bed (pillows, however, are like bolster cushions) fully working air con (I kept it on for 4 days straight at 17°) I enjoyed the breakfast, usual continental, plenty of choice. Our room had a bath and shower over, was small but perfectly adequate. If you want to be in the hub this isnt the place. If you want peace and quiet and to get your steps in, this is the one for you.

Clean hotel and in a great location for walking around Budapest. A stone's throw from the Chain Bridge and a stone's throw from the funicular that leads to the upper part (Buda). Ten minutes on foot to get to the other side of the river (Pest) with the Danube and its boats in the background. Very kind staff, excellent breakfast served by two young women. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended
