Mercure Budapest Buda

We had a room on floor 5 so had a lovely view up the hill and could see the spire of Church Tower. The hotel’s location was good - close to the Metro 2 line and a steep walk up the hill to see the Fisherman’s Bastion. Great views of the sunset from the top of the stairs. The room was clean and had everything we needed - kettle, minibar. Bathroom was tiny but shower was powerful. Not aware of any noise outside of the room. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast is in a cafeteria style restaurant which didn’t fit with the luxury feel of the rest of the hotel. The range of foods available at breakfast was good but more fruit please. We were leaving early on our last morning but were able to order breakfast bags to take with us. I would return to this hotel again.

This hotel is located in a convenient location in Budapest and has good access to public transport and most sights of the city. However, this hotel is dirty. Our bathroom was dirty when we arrived. The floor was not clean, we were missing tissue paper and we found an old pair of socks in the room. Worse of all the breakfast buffet. Lots of staff members walking around but none of them is paying attention to the cleanliness of the buffet. Food on the floor, the cold meat at the buffet seemed old and dry. Vegetables and fruit seemed old and dry. Coffee machine produces watery coffee. And staff come into the breakfast room helping themselves to food and drinks whilst hotel guests are having their breakfast. I saw the cleaning staff using the breakfast room and helping themselves to food and drinks. After they have just cleaned rooms and toilets! Disgusting! I should not be seeing this as a hotel guest. Hotel manager or breakfast manager should be ashamed of themselves .

The receptionist (the boy with the long hair) was so rude and ironic towards us. 3 times we needed his assistance he had the same bad attitude. It is so sad to experience such behaviour in a hotel like mercure.
