Star Inn Budapest Centrum

Nobody on reception when I arrived and nobody on reception the next morning. I had to go next door to the adjoining hotel to check in. The signage on reception didn’t make any sense re: where to go. My room was terrible, the bedding was very basic, small pillows, curtains were dirty. The room felt dirty, tired and desperately needs to be painted. The bathroom was disgusting, stained tiles, black grout. Broken fittings in the bathroom, the bottom of shower screen was all dirty and shower doors don’t close properly. There were two containers with a very small amount of soap and some form of hand wash in the shower. No shampoo, No conditioner, no shower cap. Towels were very poor quality. I didn’t want to take my shoes off or get into the bed, nothing felt like it was clean…! Breakfast was in the neighbouring hotel. The breakfast was ok, typical breakfast in European hotels. Wifi very patchy, quite weak, kept going offline. You don’t want to spend any time in the room. The foyer is no better to spend time there…! I complained the next morning and when I returned to my room that afternoon- it felt like it had been cleaned a bit better and it smelt better. But it doesn’t take away from the fact that the room is desperately in need of renovation and upgrading. I wish that I could give it a score of -1. The only positive is that it had a small fridge and a safe.

Unfriendly staff at reception both days. You'd rather write on the phone than look at the guest in conversation. Room dirty and shower partition was broken, see pictures. It doesn't matter. Who has the possibility, take another hotel!!

Now this is City Hotel Budapest, part of Dormero group hotels. I would recommend this hotel. It is in a great location. If you come by car, the garage, with an extra charge, is available right below the hotel. The room, at least ours, is large, spacious, with a separate sleeping area. Clean and tidy. Friendly staff. All praise from me.
