There were hardly any staff around to offer assistance or guidance. No one to check you in on arrival or provide guidance on getting around etc. You have to call a number to get a code to open a box to then get your room key. This phone just rang and rang without anyone answering which causes quite a lot of stress when you just arrive. It was very insecure. Everything was open and with no staff around anyone can get up to the rooms. There was a couple staying there who got the stuff stolen. There is also no where to leave your bags after check out, so you have to take them with you if you aren’t going straight to the airport. Lastly, it is not close to anything. There are no restaurants or shops around. It is a 40/45 min walk into the centre of town (about a 20 min walk to the Perlman museum though)

As a whole this hotel was not bad, however, we were not impressed with the bedroom, although clean and warm, with basic features, the so called double bed was not double, it was more like single and a half, not big enough for two people, and also a shared toilet is not a good idea for more mature people.
Breakfast was basic but plentiful, and the coffee was just brown water.
Due to young people staying here, some nights can get noisy and the staff had no control over them, traffic noise was also an issue as it's 50 meters away from a dual carriageway.
The building is a bit taky. Could do with some modernisation. As a whole, it is an OK place for 1-2 nights

I’ve spent in the Capital Inn my first night in Iceland and it’s also been my first experience in a hostel. Other than the space-less room with 14-15 beds, where it was quite impossible to open my own luggage, I didn’t really appreciate the bathroom/toilet, where I enjoyed the company of a swarm of big insects while taking a shower. Fortunately almost no one of the next hostels resembled this one, despite most were less expensive. Probably they can keep those prices because of the position not far from the city centre.
