I enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Klettur. The rooms are not big nor fancy, but they are well organized, functional, quiet with comfortable beds. I wanted a place that was walkable, close to bus stops if needed, but not in the middle of the chaos and noise (which the Laugavegur area can be like). Breakfasts were plentiful and good. Right at 7:00, there's a lot of pushy and rude tour bus and/or cruise crowds at breakfast, but everything is great if you can wait until 8:00 or 9:00 to eat. A Bonus supermarket is an easy walk, and a delicious Reykjavik Roaster coffeeshop is just across the street. I highly recommend Hotel Klettur especially for a budget conscious traveler who doesn't want to be any further away from the city centre (like many other budget hotels are). Only criticism would be it would be nice to have one piece of artwork in the room. The rooms are great for minimalists!

Great location near good restaurants and not too far from the main shopping street. The breakfast buffet was always exactly the same and the breakfast staff were not very friendly. They don’t let you take a piece of fruit out of the breakfast room. What difference does it make if we eat it there or in our room later? Aren’t we paying for it?

Stayed for two nights with the family. Convenient location a few steps from the center, but the rooms have many issues, damaged furniture wood, torn curtains and sheets. Furthermore, I find it unacceptable that, if I book and pay for a triple room for three adults, I end up with a double room with a mini-cot on the floor (I am attaching photos). Breakfast is average. The common areas are the best part of the hotel. Convenient room for leaving luggage
