First the pros- hotel is in a wonderful location to access some of the highlights of Reykjavik. Secondly, the staff were just lovely & tried very hard to assist you as best they can. I was with a Viking tour group the end of June & a young male employee who was at the desk at 5pm with a name that sounded like Kobar went of his way to help me secure sturdy tape to apply a temporary remedy to my significantly damaged suitcase that had arrived from the airport.
On the negative side, as noted by previous guests, the breakfast buffet is lukewarm at best. They use a heat light instead of an enclosed serving dish to keep the food so called warm. Dinner was tasty & appropriately cooked.
We were “upgraded” but the room’s room darkening shades did not function in that capacity. Light came in from both sides the entire length of the curtain & the wood floor had deep gouges in the floor.
The hotel gives off a dull darkish appearance & could use a refurbishment.
