Reykjavik Lights Hotel by Keahotels

Far enough from downtown that having a car is handy. We didn’t, so spent quite a bit on bus rides downtown. Rooms are clean and pretty spacious, and the shower is superb, but heat wasn’t controllable so we had to open a window. This meant we listened to a LOT of street noise! Excellent breakfast. People on the front desk were VERY helpful with transportation suggestions and got us into our room before official check-in, which was MUCH appreciated after an overnight flight.

We booked this hotel so we could have one night in Reykjavík during a layover. The front staff are super helpful and very accommodating. They helpedus find a good place to walk upon our arrival. The rooms are very clean but basic. The twin beds were on the small side. The shower was very refreshing. There were not a lot of toiletries offered by the hotel. The blackout shades were present and necessary. The morning. Breakfast was tasty overall a good stay and a good value. As someone who normally stays at Marriott or Hilton properties, this hotel was much less exciting.

My sister recommended this delightful hotel, and I'm glad she did. Local rather than a big chain. (Why come to Iceland to stay in a Hyatt?) Not a luxurious hotel, but has clean, charming rooms with crisp bed linens (but very few amenities, so bring your own lotion). As a solo traveler, I was given a small room with a twin bed, which suited me just fine. The hotel is right across from a park and a small zoo. It's not in downtown Reykjavik, but a short bus ride takes you right into the city center. Breakfast included. Good selection of items, and all delicious. They have a bar that stays open late. Take your drink to the outside terrace. Staff was very friendly and helpful both before and at my arrival. [I exchanged numerous emails with them before I came, and they answered promptly. They arranged private transport from the airport for me. (I didn't want to deal with buses.) And they can book tours for you also.] There is a restaurant right next door and a bank. [I like to use a bank's ATM to get cash in local currency, but every place (including the buses) takes credit cards.] I definitely would stay here again.
