The hotel was not obvious to find, neither was reception. The building looked liked it was 1980s Eastern European. I work in a school and this was definitely like a school! Somehow I had missed this when booking, The room was very dated and to get your own bathroom, I think you had to book a 3 bed room? Desks in the room and 80s curtains which didn’t pull totally across the window. However, we did have a great view of a lake. Our bathroom was tiny and the shower was old and very tired looking. Neither of us wanted to shower in it, so didn’t. It did not look acceptable to use. Basin and toilet were clean. Beds were clean and with softer pillows, which I like. Had a good night’s sleep. The lady on reception was super friendly. There was no place to eat in the evening, except for a weird set up of soup and bread with free coffee. Breakfast was basic but nice enough but staff not friendly at all. If I’m honest, I couldn’t wait to wake up, have breakfast and leave. Very glad we only stayed one night.

The staff's welcome was top-notch and there is parking available. The concept of making a hotel out of student rooms is good and makes sense BUT... Room in a state of questionable cleanliness, the bathroom with rust stains under the sink, mold between the flooring and the wall, and a very unpleasant sewer smell when showering. The beds have soft mattresses with a hole in the middle of the mattresses, way too worn out. Way too expensive for what it is, and on top of that, breakfast is not included in the price. Advice: avoid at all costs.

We were booked into this hotel by our bus operator. When we arrived I said that this felt like a school. Well, it IS a school. Apparently the 'Edda' hotels in Iceland are all boarding schools that are turned into hotels over the summer months, That's also the reason that there's no TV in the rooms, but instead two desks, also no hotel bar. Breakfast is pretty basic, with water-like coffee and stale bread. If I booked myself I would never ever stay in an Edda.
