Icelandair Hotel Herad

One glaring problem of this hotel was that there was only hot water coming out of the shower head. We called the front desk multiple times to find out what the problem was. The first time the lady came she turned on the water and the water was lukewarm. But after she left and we turned on the shower and within a minute the water was scalding hot. The second time she came back she fiddled with the faucets and told us to use that setting but again after she left the water was scalding hot again within a few minutes. The third time she came back she admitted that there could be some problem with the pipes but since the hotel was fully booked, she could not get us a different room. So we were stuck with a room with a shower that only spewed out hot water with no compensation for our misery.

Not the greatest experience here. Room was dated but large. However, breakfast was super expensive and not added to my already expensive room. Few choices in this town and if I ever drive the Ring Road again will probably stay elsewhere.

Conveniently located right next to Bónus, making it easy to grab groceries or snacks during your stay. Rooms feature a slightly dated wooden-style décor. While still comfortable, the wooden floors show noticeable scratches—likely from luggage wheels—which detracts a bit from the overall feel. A nice touch is the inclusion of L’Occitane amenities, adding a hint of luxury. Breakfast is the standout. After days of simple breakfasts in small, isolated towns along the Ring Road, this feels like a proper city hotel spread—excellent variety with a pancake maker, plenty of juices, and even decaf coffee. Overall: A great stop on the Ring Road, with a standout breakfast that feels like a return to city standards, despite slightly dated rooms.
