There are anniversary surprises, and then there are **anniversary surprises involving balloons, rose petals, towel swans and a cake so large that one person can spend two days heroically finishing it**.
Our stay at the **Shangri-La Eros New Delhi** in April 2026 was definitely one of the more memorable ones.
We stayed for our **two-year anniversary** in an Executive Suite with Lounge access, and the hotel made a real effort to make the occasion special from the moment we arrived.
An Anniversary Welcome to Remember
The Guest Relations team had decorated our bedroom beautifully with balloons, rose petals and the obligatory — but still rather charming — towel swans.
And then there was the cake.
A **huge** anniversary cake was waiting for us, and I'm pleased to report that it was absolutely delicious.
In fact, I can provide pretty compelling evidence of just how good it was:
**I ate the entire thing over two days.**
I'm not saying I recommend doing this, but I'm also not saying I regret it.
The attention to detail from the team was fantastic and made our anniversary feel genuinely special.
Our Executive Suite
The suite gave us plenty of space for a longer stay, with a good-sized living room leading through to a separate bedroom.
One particularly thoughtful addition was a **large dehumidifier** in the living room. Delhi can be hot and humid, so this was one of those practical touches that you might not immediately notice but definitely appreciate.
The bathroom was finished in marble and included both a bath and separate shower, along with a single sink.
Overall, the suite was comfortable, spacious and well suited to a special-occasion stay.
The Lounge Is Worth Visiting
The Shangri-La's lounge was another highlight.
With Lounge access included, we made good use of it for both breakfast and evening drinks and food.
The selection was so extensive that I'm fairly certain some guests could happily have eaten their entire dinner there without ever venturing into one of Delhi's many fantastic restaurants.
**I wasn't going to make that mistake.**
Delhi has some seriously good Indian food, and there was no way I was going to visit the city and spend every evening eating in the hotel lounge!
That said, the lounge is excellent and definitely worth considering if you're deciding whether Lounge access is worth the extra cost.
Location, Location, Delhi
The hotel is in a very convenient part of New Delhi, and you'll spot the **Le Méridien** directly opposite.
It's a good base for exploring the city, although I'd strongly recommend planning your sightseeing around the weather.
Delhi can get **very hot**, and April is certainly not the time to underestimate the heat.
I'd also read plenty of warnings about pollution before visiting. Personally, I didn't find it particularly bad during our stay, although experiences will obviously vary depending on the conditions.
Give Delhi More Time
Our biggest mistake was probably not staying long enough.
There is a huge amount to see and do in Delhi, and while we managed to get a taste of the city, I'd definitely stay longer next time.
For me, **three days would be a much better length of stay** if you want to explore the major sights without feeling like you're constantly racing against the clock — and preferably while avoiding the hottest part of the day!
Would I Stay Again?
Absolutely.
The Shangri-La Eros delivered a very enjoyable stay, and the exceptional anniversary welcome made it particularly memorable.
The Executive Suite was comfortable and spacious, the Lounge was excellent, the hotel was well located and, most importantly, the service team clearly knew how to make a special occasion feel special.
The giant cake certainly helped too.
I'd happily stay here again when I return to Delhi — although next time I'm going to give myself **at least three days and perhaps ask the chef for a smaller cake**.
Actually, forget that last part.
**Verdict: A comfortable five-star base in New Delhi with excellent Lounge facilities and genuinely thoughtful service — made even sweeter by one unforgettable anniversary cake.**

This was our first time at a Shangri-La property so we weren’t sure what to expect. Must admit that our experience was surprisingly pleasant, more so for the warm, friendly and courteous behaviour of the hotel staff in general and Anamika in particular. Anamika really made us feel special and at home.
Our room was large and well appointed with all the comfort and conveniences one expects from a 5-star hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed the food at Sorrento and Shang Palace and were spoilt for choice at the breakfast buffet.
Last but not least, the location of the property is hard to beat. We would gladly recommend the property to anyone, be it for business or pleasure.
