Almost Heaven

Finding the hotel: When I reached the location of houseboat, it was not there any more. The hotel contact number mentioned on the booking was not reachable. After making calls to Goibibo customer care, I finally got the hotel staff number who kept sending us to the wrong location. It took us 2 hours to finally put our luggage in a houseboat whose staff agreed to honor the advance booking. Stay: Though the houseboat was well ornamented and hot water was there, the mosquitoes did not allow us to sleep and hence this one star rating. Staff: The staff kept asking for more tip and was very skeptical about the breakfast which was already paid for. Note: The breakfast is not provided before 8am and you need to pay for the Shikara which is necessary to reach the houseboat. The hotel owner should have updated the address and contact number and contacted the customers who made advance booking. The pathetic experience of finding the houseboat simply killed the mood.

This Houseboat is quite a shame. Here is why I think so: 1. Musty interiors. Grubby linen etc though the room itself is pretty large. 2. Terrible food arrangements. Our package included breakfast and dinner and both for served cold for the two days we were there. There was only vegetarian food with the boy managing the houseboat claiming that that there was a death in the regular meal supplier's family and this was the best he could manage. 3. No concept of doing up the room when the guests leave the houseboat for sightseeing the day. JUST DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE. (This also goes under an alias New Lady of Shallot or something similar)

Booked the whole houseboat while travelling with family. The location of the houseboat is very good by the amenities are very basic. Does not let you to relax in night. Though the view from the boat is fantastic.
