Booked this hotel via Booking.com for 4 nights from 2024-03-01 to 2024-03-05. It looks beautiful in the photos, which was also the reason we booked this. One day before arrival, we were contacted by the owner via WhatsApp that we would meet him at the hotel in the evening. The road to it is almost impassable, either by car or motorcycle/scooter. Previous reviews indicate that this road would be completed in 2019, but this has not yet happened. Finally arriving at the hotel we are asked what we are actually doing here since the hotel is not yet open and we are the only guests. Contacted the owner (Mr. Kossyhoam) but he was in Denpasar with a doctor, so we had to wait a while. In the meantime we took a look at the hotel. It looked old and abandoned, the pool was dirty and the pump was turned off. The garden was completely overgrown and had not been maintained for years. The chairs were stacked up in the restaurant and the restaurant didn't look very clean either. It smelled funny and the statue in the middle of the restaurant was covered in black gunk. We wanted to drink and/or eat something. They first had to see what was in stock in the kitchen. I got my Coke and upon my first sip I had a bad taste in my mouth. The Cola had an exp. date of 2021. When we looked into the ridge of the roof of the restaurant, we saw large bats hanging that dropped their urine and feces on the statue. We immediately canceled and contacted the owner again and he told us that this hotel had just been taken over by him and that the previous owner was actually not allowed to accept new guests until after the renovation. But we would get our money back through Booking.com and otherwise he would arrange it. To date no response from Booking.com, Mr. Kossyhoam and the old owner (Ida). This still has a tail!!!!! UPDATE 2024-05-11: Booking.com has refunded the full amount to our account following all reviews / photos and messages. Our sincere thanks to Booking.com for their efforts.

While remote it was worth the drive. Looking down from the Infiniti pool to the reservoir below is spectacular. Hotel is a little quiet, not many guests as still recovering from covid. We liked the quietness. Some reviewers say it's spooky but I disagree, it's a slice of jungle paradise. We booked the family room which looks towards the sea and jungle. Book a lagoon view room for views over the reservoir. Rooms were clean, spacious and luxurious. Meals are available although a limited menu is offered. Road is a little dicey for a small hatchback but we managed.
