On the whole We had a lovely experience. The staff were nice and the customer service was good. We were always supplied with mineral water for drinking and brushing our teeth and daily evening fumigation was an excellent service. We stayed in 3 bed Villa #12. Initially the villa looked impressive however on closer inspection I can only describe it as being 'tatty' the cleanliness and maintenance was very poor. I couldn't tell whether the bath tub in the master bedroom was dirty or covered in limescale and water stains but the appearance never changed during our 9 night stay despite housekeeping everyday. Dry split decking around the pool, worn varnished floors inside the villa, dirty, mouldy grouting around the kitchen sink and a filthy looking hob. Dust on light fittings and on the smoke detector (which can't be safe) and thankfully I only noticed on our last night THICK dust on the head board; I would describe as years worth. I didnt look at the other rooms in detail but one of our party did mention a missing spotlight in the ceiling and a dirty bath also. My son naively left some cash out and housekeeping helped themselves to some of it, lets call it a 'tip'. In defence of the villa management, we didnt discuss these issues with them as we just wanted a stress free stay. The pool was fantastic and the development was mostly peaceful with not much noise level which is what we wanted. Food quality (breakfast & room service) was very average but I do recommend the pool snacks. The location was good for a c h nice of restaurants, walking to the beach and Seminyak village for shopping. Due to the poor condition of the villa I wouldnt describe this as value for money.

Tucked away in the heart of Seminyak, The Layar offers a refreshing take on the traditional Bali villa stay. Known for its striking contemporary architecture, the property combines sleek modern design with the privacy and space that families and groups appreciate when visiting Bali. During our stay, we checked into Villa 15, a spacious Two Bedroom Villa, which quickly felt like our own private sanctuary. The villa’s signature angled rooflines and open-plan layout create a bright, airy atmosphere throughout. At the centre is a large private swimming pool surrounded by tropical gardens, with plenty of space for both adults and children to relax. The expansive living and dining pavilion opens directly onto the pool deck, while the fully equipped kitchen makes longer stays particularly comfortable. We spent afternoons swimming, lounging poolside and taking advantage of the excellent in-villa dining service. Daily breakfasts were served at our preferred time each morning, while lunches ranged from wood-fired pizzas and pasta to Indonesian favourites and fresh seafood. Everything arrived beautifully presented and was perfect for relaxed family meals by the pool. For those looking to unwind even further, in-villa spa treatments are available. We enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing massage in the privacy of our villa, allowing us to fully embrace the slower pace of island life without ever needing to leave our own space. The Layar’s location is another major advantage. Despite feeling secluded and peaceful, the villa resort is just minutes from Seminyak’s vibrant dining and shopping scene. Guests can easily explore nearby boutiques, cafés and beach clubs before retreating back to the tranquillity of their villa. Dining is also a highlight, with Settimo Cielo providing an elegant on-site restaurant option for guests seeking a more formal meal. Combined with attentive service, stylish design and generous villa spaces, The Layar delivers a sophisticated yet family-friendly Seminyak escape that balances privacy, comfort and convenience beautifully.
